Public. Provocative. Porn. 

Tonight is the Feminist Porn Awards' screening event, "Public. Provocative. Porn. The Year's Best in Feminist Film".

Featured are selections from four amazing pornographers ranging in experience, style, and perspectives on ethical models in pornographic cinema. It's a real treat to see the work screened in a huge theater -- it's not everyday you watch pornography on the big screen along with hundreds of other people in the room. And, it's also not everyday you get to hear the directors themselves speak in a Q&A panel following the presentations. I've attended a few in the past, featuring directors and performers such as Carlos Batts, Cheryl Dunye, Shine Louise Houston, April Flores, Tobi Hill-Meyer, Drew DeVeaux, Tristan Taormino and so many more. As always, the discussion is masterfully facilitated by CoCo La Creme. This year, the panel features Erika Lust, Buck Angel, Nenna, and N Maxwell Lander.

Erika Lust is the skilled Swedish director (residing in Barcelona, Spain) behind Lust Films. She crafts films with a glossy, cinematic flare with attention to detail and sensuality. I would love to work with her! Buck Angel is one of the most well-known transsexual male performers carving a strong name for himself in the mainstream porn business and paving the way for other transmale performers to follow. I loved his educationally sexy Sexing the Transman XXX and am excited about the sequel. Nenna is the owner of Feelmore510, a new Adult Gallery in Oakland. I first met her on the set of Shine Louise Houston's CHAMPION: Love Hurts, where she played the Referee! Since that time she's gone on to produce two fantastic films, one with Good Releasing Tight Places: A Drop of Color, and the latest, Hella Brown: Real Sex in the City. I first met Toronto's ownN Maxwell Lander through her cutting-edge fashion portraiture including luminaries such as Kate Bornstein. Max most recently has formed Figure 3: Films, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
