Houston, We Have A Pinup: Meet Roxy Vandiver

Here in Porn Valley, we take it for granted that on-camera nudity is a sacred rite of passage for our barely legal teens, grad students, parking attendants, and clergy, but Houston's Roxy Vandiver might be Texas's Lone Pinup Star.

Using tactics allowable to the press but illegal elsewhere, we stalked Ms. Vandiver after peeping her in the retro-80's slasher romp "Spirit Camp." Looking like a cross between "Big Easy"-vintage Ellen Barkin and Kimberly Kane, Vandiver stood out because she was one of only two women in a movie bursting full of hot Texans to get naked.

"I didn't really progress into shooting nude and topless," Vandiver says. "I was willing to shed my clothes from the get go. Strange for me, because believe it or not I am shy about my figure."

Her first on-screen nude scene was in "Witchcraft 13:Blood of the Chosen," which Vandiver describes as "god-awful" but which also familiarized her with simulated sex on camera.

"The sex scene seems really graphic," she says. "But when you're on set filming there are dozens of crew members around and everyone's laughing and having a good time. There is one part in the scene where the male lead pushes up my skirt and you think you see him penetrate me, but what no one knows is, I was wearing sheer pantyhose throughout the entire scene. Our skin never even touched."

Would it matter to you if Fleshbot readers, too, were wearing sheer pantyhose while reading this article?

"I prefer to think of my work as sexual art and while I am sure there are men out there who have pleasured themselves to my photos," says Vandiver, "[but] I do not think they are pornographic.

"Having said that, I am a big fan of pornography and have quite a large collection of it."

Vandiver (who also appears topless with a mercifully clothed Ron Jeremy in the upcoming "Killer School Girls from Outer Space") notd that other Texas-area actreses were shy about disrobing for B-movie money, and so she often introduces herself as "The Hired Boobs."

"But truth be told that label is totally fine with me," she says. "If my tits are what get me in the door, then good for me. Because once I get in the door, they see that I am a good actress and that I take my work seriously. For many people, it's about getting a foot in the door - for me it's about getting a breast in. And it's worked out well for me so far."
