Abundant pubes! Pastiness! Visible boom mikes! A boxcover that suggests a whole different movie altogether! In many ways porn is more honest now than it was in 1988, but there are still several things to recommend "Dickman & Throbbin."

You'd think that all the stereotypical porny gaffes that made adult movies of the 80's so ridiculous would have been bred out by 1986, when this film was released, but they weren't. Still, you can see in this flawed document what made them so fun, too.

Even though the title characters only appear in one scene and are only referenced - fairly sloppily - in another scene of a movie that is actually about the sexless marriage of Steve Drake (which Dickman & Throbbin have no bearing on whatsoever), we get to see some serious hammy acting by John Holmes, who'd be dead two years later, Tom Byron, who was but a pup then, and Peter North, whose acting was worthy of all the "Father Dowling Mysteries" and "Murder She Wrote"s of the time.

But the best performance was by Amber Lynn, who managed to combine dumb blonde with growling predatrix in her scene with the title characters.

I won't explain the plot. The movie looks like producers Western Visuals smashed two incomplete movies - one called "The Sexorcists" and one called "Dickman & Throbbin" - together and hoped for the best.
