“The Recruiter”: Some Suspensions of Disbelief Are More Worthwhile Than Others

First the bad news: these likely ladies weren't just fucked off the street, as a title like "The Recruiter" would suggest. The good news is that all were tested and cleared for STDs, then paid for their work.

Porn Teuton Mick Blue began his career as a performer, and his directorial efforts are fun because he likes what he does and seems to have a sense of humor about it. Or maybe I just think all people who speak with a German accent have a sense of humor, like Nena of "99 Luftballons" fame. She was hilarious. But I don't think she's in this.

Anyway, the disbelief we suspend for a movie like this or most of Pink Visual's catalog is no more of a nod to fantasy than thinking that those long-ago women in Ed Powers videos were having the time of their lives. So what if these women didn't just let their suntanning (it's almost always suntanning) be interrupted for a day of face fucking?

The camera work in "The Recruiter," which seems to have been shot entirely by either Blue or a stationary tripod, is frill-free.

"Let's play a game," he tells 5-foot, 85-pound Jennifer. "You show me your butt, and I masturbate my cock."

Well, I guess that's a game. Especially since the prize is that he isn't masturbating for long.

Altogether "The Recruiter" is a fun movie because of the personalities of both the recruiter and the recruited, if not for its production value.
