No James Spader Allowed In “Sex, Thighs, and Videotape”

Anyone can hire a bunch of popular pornstars and make a halfway decent lesbian film. But Nightingale wouldn't be satisfied with wanton, random sex; they go above and beyond to make everything seem as earnest and real as possible.

A big part of the realism in "Sex, Thighs, and Videotape" comes from the interview that every girl does before her scene. Each pornstar—sometimes alone, sometimes sitting with her partners—describes her first lesbian encounter, why girls are softer and more skilled in the bedroom, and all the things she might look for in a female fuck buddy.

Tiffany Tyler, for example, discusses her obsession with tight-bodied blonde babes, so it's no surprise when she starts rubbing Victoria White's thigh and demanding she drop her panties. Meanwhile, Ruby Rayes and veteran bombshell Payton Leigh have already stripped and wrapped their legs around each other.

Even at this point, the girls stay calm and reserved, letting things evolve organically. Unlike in other lesbian films, the girls don't start dishing out dirty talk, there are no arbitrary four-part moans, and the smiles and giggles that wash over a scene are not from the nervous or inexperienced; there's nothing but slow-building joy and excitement.

Well, mostly. When Angelina Valentine gets some quality time with Kayla Paige, the girls nearly tear each other apart. Angelina describes her first lesbian lover as a woman who liked to use her, and she loved the idea of being someone else's plaything. So although she considers Kayla's pleasure as much as her own, Angelina brings a novel aggression to the scene. She tortures Kayla's clit by alternating flicks with her tongue and wipes with an ice cube, and Kayla wails like they're the only two people in the world. With these two girls licking each other to pieces on a red couch in the middle of a completely black room, it's no surprise they get lost in the moment.

For the final scene, Zoey Holloway, India Summer, and Chanel Preston set-up their brunette breakfast buffet and slowly take turns sampling each other. Chanel spreads her legs as wide as she can while India and Zoey simultaneously slurp at her labia and massage her thighs. We've never seen teamwork like this before! India seems to call the shots—what with being the most experienced and badass of the bunch—but when push comes to tribbing, she melts into a moaning, screaming pile of swear words just like any other girl.

Maybe "Sex, Thighs, and Videotape" doesn't bring much creativity to the table, but what they do bring is incredibly valuable. The confessional aspect delivers an empathetic aphrodisiac to performers and viewers alike, and helps build a palpable sexual tension that drives every scene. Nightingale can do no wrong: if you're looking for steamy, sensual lesbian sex with girls who actually like girls, you can do no better than this.
