This toy is sleek, pretty, satiny smooth and feels great to the touch. But does it feel great where it matters?

The Nomi Tang Getaway Smooth is probably the best feeling vibrator I've handled. Its outer skin isn't rubbery at all, just soft and smooth and so pleasant to stroke. It has a nice weight and girth, a pretty color and design, and it's waterproof. It does, however, take batteries (not included!)—but at least they're AAs, which can usually be scrounged up around the house.

A unique feature of the Getaway is its touch-sensor buttons, something I hadn't come across in my previous dildo adventures. There's a regular power button to depress for on/off (which is actually really fun to push, for what it's worth), but to control vibration speed and to scroll through different modes there are two different styles of sensor. First the good: I really liked the speed control, which is a long pill-shaped sensor button that you simply run your finger up (or down) to increase (or decrease) intensity. Very, very convenient.

But as for the not-so-good: To switch modes you have to touch a small sensor for two full seconds. The two-second rule may prevent accidental mode switching as you've really got to make full contact for those seconds, but I can imagine if one is not careful this could be an issue. We've had problems with standard push buttons that only scroll in one direction—and if you accidentally leave your desired mode with this two-second touch sensor, it may be slightly nightmarish to get all the way back where you want it.

As for the vibration and sensation overall: yes, this is a nice vibrator. Is it anything extraordinary? No.

But there is one cool feature: the Getaway can be used two different ways! In addition to using it as a vibrating dildo, you've also got the option of turning the device around and using the base for clitoral stimulation. Unfortunately, when you do this the intuitive way (i.e. with the base's gently peaked tip facing forward), all the control buttons end up on the bottom. Not so convenient if you want to switch the settings up mid-sesh. It is nice to have the option of both types of stimulation in one device, and I give it points for that. But it's no improvement over current devices that can provide both types of stimulation at the same time!

Overall, the Nomi Tang Getaway Smooth is a pleasant experience. Though it's nothing phenomenal, it makes for a very nice introductory dildo—with its pretty box and satiny pouch for safekeeping, it is discreet and tasteful. Though it didn't have me climbing the walls with ecstasy, it did have me satisfied.. And isn't that what's important?
