Porn For Straight Girls: Ladies First!

I love that Vivid had the idea of making "Me First," a movie focused on women coming before their partners, but I was skeptical about how it would actually play out. It ended up having some great moments and some not-so-great moments, but most importantly, it had Keni Styles.

Each segment of "Me First" starts out with the female performer masturbating for a while, with the required cheesy music, before the guy shows up to fuck her. The opening scene features Lia, who is apparently an internet "sensation" and a Vivid exclusive, in a classroom setting. She writhes around for a bit, all blonde and pigtailed, and then Tommy Gunn appears. Their scene was pretty lackluster, honestly. Lia didn't seem that into it, and Tommy didn't seem that into her. As an introduction, it was a slow start, and I wasn't very convinced that Lia had an orgasm. I like to see serious visual evidence of women coming; just because girls can't (all) ejaculate doesn't mean that it isn't apparent when they've reached their peaks, whether it's sweating, flushing, moaning, or shaking. There wasn't any of that here! Lia's second scene with Bill Bailey, in a Fifties-style diner, wasn't any better.

Daisy Cruz didn't give me any particular evidence of her enjoyment either, although she was a tad more energetic than Lia. She's pretty hot, and definitely noisy, but even the loud moaning reached a sort of monotone. It's not that Vivid didn't make any effort to show female pleasure; there was certainly more pussy-eating than usual, and the cumshot wasn't a very prominent feature, but either the performers didn't quite get the memo, or the director didn't care if the movie fully lived up to the title.

Far and away the best scene was between Lexi Swallow and Keni Styles. Keni Styles is so hot. And, he's Asian. We never get to see Asian men! I didn't even realize he was going to be in this movie when I first picked it up, and the discovery was a fantastic surprise. Part of the appeal of the scene was its simplicity: Lexi is masturbating on a bed, and Keni is her fantasy come to life. No gimmicky set, no silly costuming. He just swoops in and starts licking her! This affords us a great view of his jawline, which is beautiful. Lexi was the only one whose enthusiasm seemed genuine, and who looked like she actually cared who her partner was.

Here's my theory: despite the fact that the concept of "Me First" is a good one, and unique, this movie is still very much "male gaze" porn. That is to say, there's no attempt to venture outside of the typical, heterosexual male-oriented scenarios, camera angles, and actions. The women may have been directed to seem more enthusiastic, and the men to pander a little more to their partners, but ultimately I don't think that it mattered to the people who made this film whether or not the women actually had orgasms.

This is especially apparent in the last scene, between Bridgette B and Sascha. Admittedly, I could be biased because of Bridgette's appearance: very blonde, very tan, very fake-breasted. But her scene is on a prison cell set, and is heavily anal-centric. Now, I really like anal porn, and I think anal sex can be great for the woman. But it takes a certain amount of finesse, and you can't treat it just like you would standard vaginal penetration, and this movie doesn't make an effort to convey that.

If this were a review in "Cooks' Illustrated," it would be in the "recommended with reservations" section. I hope Vivid keeps making these movies, but with more of a commitment to actually realizing the title! Female orgasm movies can be incredibly hot, as Tristan Taormino and Nica Noelle have repeatedly demonstrated, and I don't think they're just hot for women. Men often get off on their women getting off, and I would love it if everyone in porn kept that in mind.
