Meat, Missy Martinez

There's a moment in the movie "Newbies 2," in which director Mick Blue is talking to the juicy Missy Martinez, where suddenly the fourth wall is broken and the audience is addressed as a bunch of masturbators.

At first the movie seems like your standard-issue interview-then-fuck movie, and there is nothing wrong with that. Blue is a performer/director and he doesn't get all creepy and mouth-breathy with his talent (not that there is anything wrong with that, either). But then he and Martinez start acknowledging the audience, and it gets both fun and different.

"That guy has his pants down right now," says Blue, pointing to the camera. "Yeah, you. Put that back."

Then Martinez creeps up to the camera and looks right into it.

"I'm not a bad girl," says Martinez, an Angelena who doesn't speak Spanish and looks younger than her 24 years. "I even use crosswalks. It's only with sex that I get bad."

The funny thing is that the adorable Martinez doesn't have all the moves of a porn star and seems taken aback by a few of the things the careful and amiable Blue asks of her. It doesn't take away from the scene (parts are parts, after all), but we realize we're not looking at a porn star.

That's OK. Sometimes we don't want to look at porn stars.

And it's more important in Los Angeles that people don't jaywalk.
