The newest issue of Love magazine features Lara Stone, Mariacarla Boscono, Saksia de Brauw, Kristen McMenamy, Anais Pouliot, and Guinevere van Seenus in/around the water, topless, getting assaulted by swans just like Leda. Everything about this shoot just says "Duh" in the best way.
The story of Leda and the swan (in which Zeus transforms himself into a swan, comes to earth, and either rapes or seduces Leda) is weird for a number of reasons. It was a popular subject for sixteenth-century art, meaning it was much more acceptable to show a woman having sex with a swan than it was to show a woman having sex with another human. Could this shoot be channeling some of that energy, perhaps criticizing the depiction of sex in fashion magazines today? We'd bother to trace the symbolism, but we're just happy to have the chance to ogle our favorite models.
