A Field Guide To Amber Rose

So, we kinda missed that whole East Coast earthquake thing because we were 100% engaged with the latest Amber Rose pictures to shift the well-lubricated fault lines of the internet. To be honest, there's a significant San Franciscan contingency here at Fleshbot, so we know lots about earthquakes. However we don't know much about Amber Rose, so here go our study skills!

Amber Rose was born in Philadelphia on October 21, 1982 (although that's just what Wikipedia says; we've also seen 1983 and 1985). She says was teased throughout her childhood for having lighter skin than her classmates, and she regularly got into fights at school. Random yet awesome fact: Amber Rose's childhood hero was Slash. She notes...

"I always looked up to Slash from Guns N' Roses. I had every single poster of Slash in my room. It was crazy because I grew up in an all-black neighborhood and everybody I went to school with was black. I was the only biracial looking girl in my school, and Slash was biracial too, he was just a fucking rock star. I always wanted to play the guitar. I've tried, but other things came up."

When she was ready to leave home, Amber had dreams of working as a chef and eventually owning a restaurant (we just had visions of a parallel universe in which Amber dates Anthony Bourdain), but her budding culinary goals were nipped by her already blossoming sexuality. That is, she was better at dancing and being an object of desire, so she started stripping at the famous Philadelphia gentlemen's club and steakhouse known as Delilah's.

After she moved from Philly to New York City, Amber got acquainted with a modeling agent and started wearing pretty clothes for a living. She appeared in a few rap videos for Young Jeezy and Ludacris, but things didn't take off for Amber until she started working with and dating Kanye West around 2009. Then she began showing up at Fashion Week, at Kanye's side in a Louis Vuitton ad, and canoodling with celebrities at Ashton Kutcher's Fourth of July White Party (there's a phrase I never thought I would have the occasion to write).

Amber and Kanye went their separate ways last year, and she started dating Wiz Khalifa sometime before January. Everything about their relationship seems peachy keen, except for the odd allegations that Amber recently tried to seduce Nicki Minaj's ex-boyfriend, Safaree. You can read all about it here, but the jist of the story is Amber (allegedly!) sent pictures of herself masturbating to Safaree, and Minaj got pissed, and somehow the pictures have been given to the world. Amber denies hitting on Nicki's man (or ex-man, the details have gotten twisted a few times) but she's 100% not sweating having her finger-friendly fanfare out for everyone to see.

After all, she has bigger things on her mind that masturbation. Amber has combined her wits, sass, and fashion sense with her high profile connections, and she continues to ride the waves that make semi-celebrities into household names.

Is there anything else we're forgetting? How about her hair? She says she shaved it because she always liked Sinead O'Connor. We were hoping it had something to do with Sigourney Weaver. Oh well!
