We’re Obsessed With The Nudes Shot By Dnurv

We can normally explain (or at least feign a good rationalization for) why we like a certain photographer's work, but we don't know what to say about Dana Richardson (a.k.a. Dnurv). His skills are bodacious! His models are stunning! Somebody help us.

One of our favorite parts of his site is The Balthus Project, a section of petite nudes positioned and shot like many of the women in Balthus's paintings. It started when Richardson noticed that a few of his photos evoked the "Balthus nude archetype," and although he's not necessarily pursuing models of this style, he's still going to explore the Balthus look whenever he can. Dnurv asks:

"[Are] Balthus's nudes purely an act of objectification intended to provide voyeuristic gratification, or do they capture an essential element of our human condition... that we are sexual beings from puberty to the day we die?"

Great question, Dnurv! We have no idea. We're going to stay on this site until someone (not us) figures it out.
