When Your Friends Tell You To Hire An “Escort,” Stormy Daniels, You Say NO

Theresa (Stormy Daniels) has just celebrated her eighth anniversary with Marcus London, but he's been acting like a tool lately, alternately snapping at her and treating her with tenderness. Doesn't he know she's Stormy emmer-effing Daniels?

...so when Stormy finds a woman's number on a matchbook in his laundry, she vents to her friends, India Summer and Raylene, who do more harm than good.

Summer has decided to get back on her own cheating husband by fooling around herself, and suggests Stormy hire an escort, who turns out to be cool customer Andy San Dimas. Raylene, meanwhile, offers that she prefers her own freedom, so has never married. Way to support your friend in need, Raylene.

Raylene does give up some good advice on catching London in the act, however.

"Men are sloppy," she says. "They never entirely clean up their messes."

Stormy hires San Dimas, and we soon find out that the ASD is running a game of her own.

I won't reveal any more of the story, which is an adjustment because most porn movies do not have as well thought out plots as "The Escort." We are not talking about "Memento" here, which would suck as a porn movie. Instead, we are talking about something that porn-timid couples can watch after a night of machine-crafted mainstream entertainment and not suddenly feel, as the acting, script, and production values suddenly fall away, that they have to adjust their expectations for porn.

No, "The Escort" is an elegantly, economically written adult film with believable, if stock, characters and a satisfying plot with a twist.

Not only that, but "The Escort" is a movie for grownups. Daniels, who had a baby not too long ago, looks great. She also looks like she is owning her new body, and not trying to turn back the clock in a porno-alarmist fashion. Both Raylene and India Summer are, similarly, excellent choices for her friends (because those lunching ladies wouldn't be hanging around with 19-year-old tartlets like, I don't know, Jessie Andrews).

This is also why San Dimas, at 25, is a great choice for the woman who might break up their marriage. Younger and with confidence in spades, San Dimas' character is poised in contrast to Daniels, who allows herself to look just this side of frumpy in their initial scenes together.

Don't get me wrong: Stormy is not waddling around in a housedress with her legs unshaven; this is still a porn movie. But she has the guts (and consideration for the audience) to cast-and dress-appropriately for this entertaining and sexy movie.
