A Field Guide To Leilani Dowding

We know we wrote a guide about someone else named Leilani last week, but we promise we're not turning into name-fetishists. We need to figure out why Leilani Dowding keeps showing up naked on beaches, and we bet the answers lie in her past!

And if we don't find the answers, that's cool. Either way, it behooves us to learn about this fine young woman because we are straight-up out of jokes regarding her topless tanning habits.

Leilani Dowding was born on January 30, 1980 in Bournemouth, Dorset, England. She was named after her mother's cousin; the name means "heavenly flower." Leilani was an excellent student, earning eleven GCSEs and three A-levels, and just as she was studying economics to become a city trader, she was spotted by a talent scout in Leicester Square and asked if she wanted to compete in the Miss Great Britain competition. She won, decided to take a year off of school, and flew out to Hawaii to compete in the Miss Universe pageant; she was eighteen years old and she's been modeling ever since.

Dowding didn't win the Miss Universe—that title, in 1998, was given to Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad and Tobago—but she was the first woman of Asian heritage to compete for the crown on behalf of Great Britain and that's pretty dang cool.

When she started modeling, she didn't intend to ever do topless work, but in 1999, she met a couple of the Page 3 Girls and was so charmed by them that she became a Page 3 Girl herself! Leilani's younger sister, Melanie Dowding, was also a topless model at the time, and yes, they've posed together. It's a terribly innocent spread, but if you must ogle, you may do so in the gallery above.

In addition to her beauty duties, Leilani has been a regular fixture in British celeb-reality TV shows. She even appeared on a special Page 3 Girl episode of "The Weakest Link," during which she joked, "I look forward to using my brain for the first time in three years." Most recently, she's been on VH1's "Touch Love Miami," a matchmaking boot camp show, and although viewers have responded favorably to her, she somewhat resents being nicknamed "Miss Superficial." She told GuySpeed:

"I was upset as being portrayed as superficial because I said I wanted a "successful" man. I don't define success by money. So when I said successful I didn't mean solely rich. On 1st dates I don't like to tell a guy everything I want because men can lie and pretend they are a certain way or that they like similar things. I'd rather see how things unfold but that doesn't mean I'm superficial or don't get deep."

We know this is immature, but the phrase "get deep" brings up some fantastic brain imagery. Anyway, more about Leilani!

She's had some bad luck with boys in the past—two broken engagements and a divorce, to be precise—but thanks to "Tough Love," she's been dating George French. He's a mortgage banker/investment firm owner who is also appearing on a reality show, Bravo's "Miami Social," and he's a lot different than the footballer types she usually goes for. The Daily Mail says that when these two lovebirds hit the beach together, they spent a lot of time cuddling and smooching, and George keeps his eyes off of Leilani's boobs. We don't know how he does it! We've tried and it's not fun.

So why does Leilani Dowding take her boobs out on the beach so often? Well, she lives in glorious, sunny places like Los Angeles and Miami, she likes the shore, and she's gorgeous. Wouldn't you flash the world, too?
