This Year In Flesh: 2011 In Review

For all those who have been cryo-sleeping through 2011, here's a month-by-month rundown of everything we (and the world of naked entertainment) have been up to this year.

Time certainly flies by when you're fapping away, doesn't it? Why, it feels like just yesterday we were putting together a list of questions for pornstars at the 2011 Adult Entertainment Expo, and now here we are, doing the same thing for 2012's convention.

This will be the last "Year In Review" post that we write, so before we get to the good stuff, we just want to give our sincerest thanks to each and every one of you readers. Thanks for reading our ramblings, advising us, and making snarky commentary throughout this past year. We love you!

And now, a look back at the year that was...

January
We went to Las Vegas for the 2011 Adult Entertainment Expo and AVN Awards! We spread love while we were there: first we went around, passing out Thank You notes to male pornstars, and then we got Stoya and Jiz Lee to spend a morning snuggling in bed. Not bad, right?

We returned home with some sex advice from our friends, porn recommendations from pornstars, and a ton of hot pictures. Oh, and Lux got a virtual blowjob from Lexi Belle!

"Star Trek: The Next Generation: A XXX Parody" boldly went where no parody porn had ever gone before, and our beloved Jeff Koga was there to take pictures.

Hey, remember when Charlie Sheen was cool for a moment? And remember when he got Bree Olson to quit porn? Thank goodness that's all over.

We thought we had some Katy Perry toplessness, but twas merely a cleverly edited photo. (We can still pretend!)

Meanwhile, Sasha Grey thought she was so cool.

And hey, how about that super cool, high-flying "Top Guns XXX" movie that Digital Playground put out? Boobs and explosions are always a winning combination.

April showers don't always have to be for May flowers; sometimes you just want to see a shower! Sometimes you just want to watch Carol Queen, Dylan Ryan, and a bunch of others teach you about squirting and G-spot stimulation, you know?

Is that the sun coming out? You know what that means: celebrities sunbathing topless! Yes! May is the month of renewal, a time to better your entire being, get healthy, and expand your mind. To that end, we learned about the connections between professional wrestling and pornography. Meanwhile, Lisa Ann had her first gangbang (and Bobbi Starr took two dicks in the backdoor)!

And who knew that Stoya looked so hot with rippling muscles? We had a hunch, actually.

Every summer there's a new celebrity sex tape or nude photo leak, and this summer was no exception. As soon as June rolled around, BOOM: naked photos of a woman alleged to be Blake Lively, followed by more pictures and proof that it was really the "Gossip Girl" star, followed by a random bunch of photos of Amber Rose masturbating. Crazy stars! We love 'em.

In preparation for a new season of "True Blood," we made a little prayer to the overlords at HBO: give us more dirty vampire sex. We also made this little tribute to accidental exposure, in the hopes that we would further appease the celebrity nudity gods.

Of the many hot summer porn flicks that passed through our hands, there were some quite good (if violent) and some quite disappointing (and narcissistic).

Good news for traveling perverts: the TSA is down with your sex toys. Still, you should be prepared for awkward encounters during security checks.

Legendary mumblecore director Joe Swanberg made us a list of his favorite movie sex scenes. It was quite refreshing to have a big time showbiz character discuss movie nudity for a change, you know? It felt legit.

There's movie sex, and then there are sex movies—that is, porn. In July, we got to see Kimberly Kane's first interracial scene (it was amazing), a new take on the naughty babysitter trope (it was our favorite Allie Haze movie to date), Tristan Taormino's latest guide to anal sex (it was her best ever), and Hustler's Lady Gaga parody film (it was quite possibly the worst movie of 2011).

But hey, let's stay positive! Every day, video games and pornography grow closer together, and for that, we are grateful.

As summer started winding down, and as we dreamed of laying our weary heads on Daisy Lowe's beautiful boobs (thanks, Playboy!), we thought it appropriate to pay tribute to the ladies whose leaked photos filled our days and thrilled our nights.

Since Joe Swanberg's movie sex guide was so popular, we got Evan Glodell—director of the apocalyptic car film, "Bellflower,"—to talk about his favorite car sex scenes. Most of us Fleshbot writers can't drive, and this made us feel all the worse about it.

Guess who had an extremely successful porn film this month? Chyna a.k.a. Joanie Laurer, one of the greatest lady wrestlers of all time.

We can hardly remember anything about September other than a huge blur of Scarlett Johansson activity. First there were the nude photos, then the FBI got involved, then the meme showed up, then we were like, "Fuck it, this is getting complicated, Scarlett looks good enough with clothing on, right?" Good story, huh?

Now that we think about it, September was a great month for porn, too. Bobbi Starr had her directorial debut with "Bobbi's World," Belladonna honored animal hats, In-N-Out Burger, and sloppy blowjobs at the same time, Jessie Andrews blew our minds with "Portrait of a Call Girl," and Amy Fisher played a jealous lover (LOL art imitates life) in a pornographic adaptation of "Fatal Attraction."

Celebrities were all kinds of naked this month. There was Marion Cotillard, Madonna, May Andersen, a fake Taylor Swift, Rihanna was practically naked in Esquire, and then the latest batch of Lindsay Lohan nudity began with the announcement that Playboy was paying her a million bananas to pose in their pages. We celebrated this last bit of information by reminding everyone that naked Lindsay is old news (but certainly always welcome news).

Then Fleshlight offered Lindsay another bunch of cash to let her pussy be cast in plaster and sold to the masses. It was a nifty idea, so we decided to up the ante with other potential celebrity Fleshlights. (We're still waiting for our Helen Mirren model!)

You know what market never gets enough love? The straight-to-DVD market. If you love softcore smut as much as we do, give some props to the pictures that have never seen the inside of a theater.

What were you thankful for this year? We were thankful that we got to host a badass party with celebrities, pornstars, and an open bar (a.k.a., The Fleshbot Awards).

We're also thankful that someone had the smart idea to make a "Buffy" parody porn, that Stoya and Buck Angel look so ridiculously hot together, and that we get post naked pictures of Lucy Liu from 2003 without anyone calling us tardy (really, guys, it was sweet of you not to mind our lateness).

Hustler introduced us to a new idea: porn that parodies popular TV commercials. Could this be the new direction of parody porn?

As soon as AVN released their list of nominees for the 2012 AVN awards, we wanted to see who was nominated for Female Performer of the Year. With sixteen amazing pornstars in the running, we simply couldn't pick our favorite, so we've thrown them into a deadly tournament, Extreme Pornstar Showdown 2012. We're in the middle of quarterfinals right now, and the competition is heating up.
