Netflix Picks: Extra Nookie Knowledge

Some of you seemed pretty interested in our roundup of educational yet sexy Netflix movies and shows from last week, so we figured we'd throw a second round of them at you. We're excited! You want to learn about sex, we want you to learn about sex, and most importantly, it seems like Netflix really wants you to learn about sex and spend lots of time watching videos that will help you do so.

1. Inside Deep Throat: Did you know that "Deep Throat" came out exactly forty years and one day ago? This is the perfect time to look back on this classic film and examine the ways it changed the world of pornography as well as the lives of those who were involved in its production. It has interviews with director Gerard Damiano, actor Harry Reems, Linda Lovelace, Gore Vidal, Larry Flynt, Hugh Hefner, John Waters Mafia money collectors, and a bunch of other interesting folk. Oh, and since this is the NC-17 version, you will be seeing hardcore pieces of the porn.

2. The Science of Sex Appeal: What's a PG-13 Discovery Channel documentary doing on Fleshbot? Hey, we're allowed to like non-raunchy things. And besides, this is all about how genetics, hormones, and other hidden facets of our crazy human bodies push us towards each other, therefore this is super fucking naughty in a teleological sense. You may be familiar with some of the topics discussed in this show--such as pheromones, facial symmetry, and how perceived income affects overall attractiveness--but it's nice to hear these things from the fun people over at Discovery Channel.

3. Orgasm Inc.: Filmmaker Liz Canner was working for a pharmaceutical company (editing erotic movies together for testing with a drug trial) that happened to be working on the female-equivalent of Viagra. She asked if she could make a movie about it, and they were cool with it, so her research began. She eventually figured that her company--as well as a bunch of other pharmaceutical giants--was making huge profits by telling people (especially women) that their sex lives were abnormal and needed to be treated with expensive drugs and surgery. Learn about how drug companies are reshaping your sexuality!

4. Female Misbehavior: This movie is really four documentaries, each about thirteen minutes long, that profile three fascinating women and one FTM transgendered man. It's old, raw, and doesn't boast the highest production quality, but the subjects are all really cool. You get to hear a S&M enthusiast talk about the appeal of pain, you get Annie Sprinkle discussing her transformation from civilian to star, and yes, there is nudity in the process of all this. This isn't exactly groundbreaking work, but since the segments are so short, they're like little snacks of thoughtfulness!
