If you read TMZ (and if you do, why?), you may have come under the impression yesterday that there is a full on war for the porn debut of Courtney Stodden (a barely legal lass best known for marrying a semi-famous dude three times her age). Why, the gossip rap breathlessly reported, a full five porn companies started throwing porn contracts at the young lady the minute she turned eighteen. Which would be sort of interesting, we suppose, were it not for the fact that all five porn companies are, in fact, owned by one single parent company.
Yes, Digital Playground, Babes.com, Twistys, Brazzers, and Mofos are all simply subsidiaries of Manwin, formerly known as the company that owns almost all the web's tube sites (and more currently known as the company that owns half of porn). Now, there's nothing wrong with Manwin seeking out the hand of Courtney Stodden (or at least pretending to for the sake of PR), but we find it curious that they've set their subsidiaries against one another in some sort of strange sibling rivalry.
But hey: maybe someone over at Manwin just has a serious crush on Ms. Stodden, and figures five voices are more persuasive than one. That, or they're hoping to give her a range of ways to explore a porn future (as a Digital Playground porn debut would certainly look a lot different than a Mofos one).
