Every one of these "Latina Hoodrats" knows what she's getting into, but we still feel sorry for them. I think there's an audience for that.
Joe Pusher is not much of a charmer, but the women he meets really want to be "models," and he can actually help.
You remember that great Kurt Vonnedgut story "Harrison Bergeron," in which the government "handicaps" all extraordinariness in service of keeping everyone equal? Occasionally I feel that the sex-positive world embraces expressions of sexuality at the expense of the (paying?) audience; sometimes I want to say, "I love who you are, but that doesn't mean you're any good at blowjobs."
People don't deserve to be in porn any more than Mitt Romney deserves to be President.
The women in Joe Pusher's videos have no such feelings of entitlement or yearning to express themselves. In dirty hotel rooms, each is made to crawl across the rug, mouth open, to blow Pusher, whose uncircumcised penis appears at the bottom of the frame (he's holding the camera, too).
While two of the performers in "Latina Hoodrat Auditions," Coco Velvett and Candace Nicole, are known commodities, the other three are not. Pusher gets them to admit that they are "auditioning" for porn and they are not being paid.
Some are prone to nervous laughter while others look like the are sharing the worst moment of their lives. Pusher doesn't hurt or insult them, he just facilitates a squalid agreement.
If porn is about fantasy, is the escape that Pusher isn't paying for it?
And who is the audience for these non-fantasies?
