Netflix Picks: Freakiness Runs In The Family

Just so we're clear, this post here has nothing to do with incest. Got that? Today's double feature is all about the virtues and vices (more of the latter) that are shared by multiple members of the same family. This might not be heartwarming, but we're hoping it'll be arousing. And besides, who comes to Fleshbot to get their heart heated up?

We ain't no heart microwave.

1. The Informers: Let's get the more depressing film out of the way first, shall we? "The Informers" is based off a collection of short stories by Bret Easton Ellis, and so the film attempts to weave a bunch of different narratives together. Fortunately for us, many of these narratives focus on the decadence and self-destructive ways of a few different families in Los Angeles in the '80s, and most of the people in these families are rather attractive. Moms, dad, sons, and daughters are all swapping partners and cheating on each other in a haze of booze and drugs, but the girl to focus on is Amber Heard. She hangs out topless, hits the bar topless, hits on a girl at the bar topless, ends up in a foursome with that girl and two guys, wakes up and hits the bong topless, and that's not even all of it. Look for her (and Valentina Garcia) at 6:30, 25:00, 32:50, 35:00, and 1:04:00.

2. Sexual Chronicles of a French Family: A young student by the name of Romain gets caught filming himself masturbating in biology class, and at this point, his mother realizes that their family needs to be more open about sex and sexuality: "Apart from AIDS, birth control," she tells her husband, "when it comes to sexual fulfillment, we leave them all on their own." Thus begins a movie in which three generations of one family openly discuss their exploits and ideas. Can you think of anything more positive and yet more uncomfortable (at least for the younger generations)? Well, as far as the removed audience is concerned, there's nothing to be uncomfortable about, unless you're not comfortable watching movies with crazy huge amounts of nudity. Sex act after sex act is strung together with honest warmth and a bit of dry humor, but we can barely remember what all the talking is about amidst the threesomes, amateur porn making, oral sex, and that one scene where the grandpa gets some action. Mailys Amrous, Leila Denio, Faustine Dubois, Laetitia Favart, Valerie Maes, and Adeline Rebeillard offer their bodies for your open and frank ogling at 1:00, 13:30, 23:45, 25:30, 27:45, 31:15, 40:00, 43:30, 45:00, 45:36, 46:45, 52:00, 1:08:30, 1:10:30, and 1:13:00. Sounds like a lot, huh?
