Is The Crowdfunded iGino What The Masses Want?

Crowdfunding has given us books, movies, tech toys, and food--so it was only a matter of time until someone tried to use it to bring the world a better sex toy. But is iGino--which raised $4,000 of its $30,000 goal on Indiegogo--the future of sex toys, or just another in a long line of pleasure products?

When I first watched the video for iGino, I was intrigued. A palm sized device that most closely resembles a pink and white Zippo lighter, it was definitely different. Add in the fact that it's USB powered (always a plus) and has a lid to keep alway the dust and dirt while the toy is in storage, and my interest was officially piqued. There the ways the matter of the iGino's mode of stimulation: rather than rely on penetration or whole toy vibration, the iGino has a small nub that simultaneously moves back and forth while vibrating (theoretically it's supposed to mimic the movements of a finger, but my finger has never moved like this).

But did it live up to it's promise? Not quite. When I opened the toy, I discovered that did exactly one thing, at exactly one speed. The little nubbin seemed cool, but if its one setting didn't get me off, there wasn't much of a way to change things up. More annoyingly, when turned on, the iGino emits a very loud whine (it rivaled my Magic Wand for volume). Not exactly the best trait for a toy that prides itself on discretion.

But I soldiered on and put the thing to use. For all the hype about its new mode of stimulation, the iGino feels pretty much like a vibrator. A very focused, intense vibrator, one that I occasionally feared would burn my clitoris off. With no way to modify the speed, the iGino is permanently set at superpowered--and for me, that was a bit too much.

Which isn't to say it's a bad product over all. If you're interested in a discreet looking vibrator that you can easily tote around when you're traveling, and if you don't mind a little (or a lot of) noise when you're in the middle of a session, and if you really enjoy having intense vibration directly on your clitoris, then the iGino may be exactly what you're looking for. For this woman, however...well, it was a fun way to spend an afternoon, but I doubt I'll be saying, "I do" to iGino in the future.
