I can't really say I have a lot of knowledge about the whole Fifty Shades of Grey craze, other than it got a lot of housewives hot and bothered. Once the book blew up, though, it was only a matter of time before a product line (and movie!) were in the works. It's a regular lascivious Lord of the Rings! But I digress. The first love-toy from the Fifty Shades of Grey Official Pleasure Collection to hit my stoop was none other than the Sweet Sting riding crop, and luckily for me, one can make good use of this puppy without reading a page.
Although we at Fleshbot do condone reading. Nevertheless, despite being FSoG illiterate, I found a lot to like about this toy. Firstly, it's pretty to look at. A metallic silver leather strop graces the end, at once supple yet able to deliver a sizeable sting. The handle is sleek, black, and flexible -- I really loved the great amount of give this thing has. You can just pull it back and let it fly slingshot style, or whip your heart out without it being all too stiff. At certain velocities I imagine this recoil might not make too much a difference, but I felt like it might make it just a tad bit gentler. If you want.
The crop features a soft leather handle to keep it hitched to your wrist, so in the heat of the moment it doesn't go flying. It also opens the window for one to learn some spinning tricks with it that could potentially be sort of impressive. I did attempt to practice this a little, but still have a ways to go...
Anyway, the only drawback of this sexy toy is the lame-o Fifty Shades of Grey label that adorns the side. It's pretty sizeable -- it's visible in the photo above just atop the thumb. It was definitely a turn-off for me. Maybe some überfans would find it titillating, but I thought it was kind of distracting and weird. But it's nothing that a pair of scissors can't take care of!
Overall, this is a sophisticated-looking, quality toy. It's pretty on-par with standard leather crop prices at $35, and from what I can tell, is made to last. So, for fans and newbs alike, this stinging sparkler just might be worth a gander.
