If you thought My Space had become a ghost town due to everyone picking up and moving to a slew of newer, more popular social sites, you'd be right...and that's a good thing, for now that lawless cyber-land is fertile ground for growing a burgeoning online sex-for-sale industry.

According to a story in the NY Daily News (link below), which cites a recent study, "The report released by the Urban Institute Wednesday paints Myspace as one of the more popular sites used to solicit sex, with its online services allegedly not only helping mask the illegal activity but geographically expanding it.

"'Myspace, all that, it's just a disguise,' one unidentified worker said in the study. 'There are so many ways to sell [sex] and they are thinking of new things now.'"

Now you can get a social disease from a social network.

Welcome to the Internet, MySpace, it's about time you learned sex sells. Maybe there's hope for the old site after all.

The article ends with, "According to the sex workers interviewed, Myspace — once the most visited social networking site in the world — today joins the ranks of Craigslist, Backpage.com, Adam4Ada.com, Eros.com, AdultSearch.com, TheEroticReview.com, and Cityvibe.com for soliciting clients."

We'd pontificate on what this means for society and the changing sex industry, but we're too busy reactivating our old MySpace account.
