Gaming has always been controversial in some corners, but put a retired male porn star in that corner, and then have him advertise for a new mobile game, and you have a commercial that will get you banned in China.
The good people at Kotaku (link below) have turned us on, so to speak, to this controversy. It's the same old story of a retired porn star by the name of Taka Kato, one of Japan's most famous male adult actors, who, until recently, had appeared in a Chinese mobile game commercial. Nicknamed "Gold Finger" due to his legendary fingering skills, he gave rise to the Japanese Porn Genre "Shiofuki", or female ejaculation. But the Chinese government, has decided that his is not the image they desire when selling products to their people.
"In the commercial, Kato talked about how he's known as 'Goldfinger.' With his raised two fingers, Kato says, 'I've brought happiness to 8,000 women.'"
"He adds that he hasn't had such a good experience until he tried mobile game Max Strike from One Click Games (aka Shanghai Wanke Internet Technology). The game was available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and the ad appeared on Max Strike's official website."
Well, that was a bit too risque for the Ministry of Culture, but the timing may have been off for the gaming company, as China has been cracking down on using sex to sell games.
