Lots of things spring to mind when you think of the Navy's elite flying corps, The Blue Angels. Discipline, precision, dedication, honor, and an undying devotion to porn. Wait a second, what was that last thing?

You read that right. Early this month, the Navy confirmed that they dismissed a two-time former commander of The Blue Angels, but did not say why they had done so.

Now all the sordid details have been revealed, and Capt. Gregory McWherter was dismissed for

Lewd speech, inappropriate comments, and sexually explicit humor were allowed in the workplace and in some case encouraged by the commanding officer. It was further alleged that pornographic images were displayed in the workplace and shared in electronic communications.

While there were no charges of sexual impropriety leveled against McWherter, the Navy apparently wasn't taking any chances by getting rid of him in an attempt to address the common conception that the military has a culture of abuse.

McWherter was a 23 year veteran of the squad and received his wings, ironically enough, during the Tailhook Scandal "which involved 100 Navy and Marine Corps aviators being accused of sexually assaulting 83 women and 7 men during the 35th Annual Tailhook Association Symposium, which took place September 8-12, 1991."

McWherter has been "temporarily reassigned" to the Naval Air Forces in San Diego and, shockingly, has declined all comments at this time.
