Before making the transition to the adult film industry in January, 2013, Sophia Fiore had already made a name for herself as a fitness model, nude model, and solo performer. Since then, she has exploded with over 50 scenes and photo sets for a variety of top-level adult entertainment studios, with a concentration in sexually aggressive scenes. She identifies as straight with bi-curious tendencies, and has worked one-on-one with some big names like Rocco Siffredi and Samantha Saint. She is also a bodybuilding superstar with her own fitness website called Look Good Naked Lifestyle, and is working successfully in two health niches: sex and fitness. I sat down with Sophia recently to talk about her past, her passions, her hottest scenes, and what she's looking forward to doing in the future, including her appearance at EXXXOTICA in Ft. Lauderdale this weekend.
Tucker Bankshot: When did you first become aware of the adult industry, and did that coincide with you realizing that it was something you wanted to do for a living, or were those two separate moments?
Sophia Fiore: When I first became aware of the adult industry, well obviously I had been aware of it before, but I used to do nude modeling, after I did print and runway and stuff like that. I started working out and getting my body how I wanted it to be, because before that I didn't like how my body looked too much. But the more I started working out and getting fitness into my life, I became much more confident in my body, so I began nude modeling.
And after I began nude modeling, a lot of girls that I met did fetish stuff and some of them did solo kind of things. So I was talking to them about fetishy stuff and solos, and I thought, "okay, I've always been a sexual person and I like what my body looks like now." So I became much more confident about that in terms of my sexuality, and in terms of being on camera, so if you kind of mix all of those things together, it seemed like something that I'd be cool with doing, and that it would be cool to do. So after I began doing solos and starting doing more fetish stuff, I started to get more open to the idea of doing scenes.
So I felt like at first I wanted to more solo stuff, see how it works, see how my body looks, and everything like that and then I might look into doing other scenes. The first scene that I did was for Reality Kings and based how everything went that day and how everyone was really nice and the scenes looked really hot. So I began to realize that I could make this an actual job, it wasn't just a shoot and go home kind of thing, I could actually make it into a career. I was still keeping up with my other job as a personal trainer, but I was thinking I can do this also and it will actually help out with that. I kind of grew into it.
TB: As a child, you moved around a lot, living in several different countries. Did any of those in particular have a lasting impact on you or your worldview?
SF: I wouldn't say that any of the countries did, but we did live in Florida for a while and I liked Florida a lot. My mom owns a string of clubs, not strip clubs but just clubs, and I used to go help set up a specific club and blow up balloons and stuff like that. I was younger, and it was a lot cooler, so I'm definitely excited for when I go back to Florida (ed. Sophia is appearing at EXXXOTICA in Ft. Lauderdale from May 2-4) because the nightlife is pretty cool. Everyone seems to be a little more in shape I've gotta say (laughs), and everyone is out on the beach and stuff like that, so that's one place that I really like the feel of.
But also one that sticks with me is Austin, Texas. Austin is where I'm from, and though we kept moving around I liked to say that I'm from Austin. It is one of the coolest places, everyone's really really nice to each other, everyone is super super open minded. People tend to think that Texas can be a little more conventional, but if you go to Austin everyone's into yoga and people are really nice. So that place really helped me to cultivate my creativity and stay open-minded, so it's a place that I'm really glad that I'm from. When I do go back, I don't get judged. It's a place where I don't have to be afraid to tell anybody because they're super open-minded about it. So, yeah, Austin more than anywhere else.
TB: I love Austin, but it is weird how it's like an island unto itself in a sea of crazy.
SF: It really is, and that's kind of crazy but it is. It's one of the nicest places people-wise I've been to. They've got a lot of cool stuff there, but just the vibe of it is awesome, everyone gets along pretty much with everyone, it's really open-minded. It's a really cool, chill place.
TB: You have your toes in both the adult industry as well as the fitness industry. Do you have a passion for one over the other?
SF: No, not so much for one over the other, I would say that I have it for both, for a couple of different reasons. I do have a big passion for the adult industry, one reason is that I like doing it is that I have a lot of fun, it's actually something I get excited about. Whenever I do a scene I'm really excited about promoting it, but I get even more positive about it if someone is against it. I won't be rude or anything but things that people are against like, for instance, gay rights and gay marriage, and a woman being free to do what she wants with her body, I just feel very passionate about those kind of things.
So, even more so that drove me to try and get the message out there that, as far as the adult industry goes, it's not that I'm a victim; I like doing it. It makes things more positive if I say, "I'm a woman, it's my body, I can do whatever I want with it," so it makes me more passionate about it when I can defend that.
As far as fitness, I'm definitely positive about that only because, look what it did to my body. I was not very confident in my body at all before, I wasn't really sure if I could change that without obviously eating food and getting really fat (laughs). I started work out and actually my dad is the one that showed me a lot of that, and I even still go work out with him at least one time a week (ed. Sophia's dad was in the Army when Sophia was growing up, which accounts for her mobile early life).
So I started getting into Crossfit and stuff like that. I especially love training people, I have literally had people buy on the sale before and especially then it makes me even more passionate about what I do, because it makes people feel good and it makes people realize that they can change themselves without getting liposuction or getting implants, they can do it themselves. I have a passion for both, for a couple of different reasons but it's definitely both.
TB: And I think that you've managed to find a way to bring those two worlds together, which is great.
SF: Yeah, they definitely go together. I haven't been as open about it, but even if you look at some fitness models, they know that it's also sex driven. So, it kind of goes together, like the fact that my company is called Look Good Naked Lifestyle (laughs).
TB: Well, that's a great segue into my next question. Common wisdom says that sex is a great way to burn off calories. Is there a particular position you recommend that could also be a great workout?
SF: There is one, I'm not sure how many people do it often, though. But there is one move that I tell almost every performer that "if this hurts you, you need to start doing more squats," and it's Missionary on top and either your calfs are flat, or they can just planted be on the ground depending upon where you are. If you're on a bed obviously it's going to be that you're calfs are pointed down and you're going to be riding on your knees. But if you're on the ground, you can plant both feet on the ground and you can squat over a guy's dick, if you're a woman. It works your glutes and your hamstrings a lot!
So actually, if you are going to do something like that as far as trying to do something that will work you out while you are having sex, and you're looking for a really good way to burn calories, that move is good for it because you'll feel it in your butt and your legs. And the number one question I always get from my female clients is "how do I get my butt to look better?" So this is a good way to put both together (laughs).
TB: What do you think is the hottest scene you've done?
SF: I can't think of just one, so I'm going to do a top three only because I can't pick just one. One of them is a "Completely Wicked" scene with Samantha Saint, it's a girl/girl, it's going to come out in May, and for sure, that scene is one of my favorites. As soon as I started performing, my performances have gotten so much better and better, and that one now is a much more recent scene and it's more of me evolving as a girl/girl performer that I just went kind of crazy on Samantha (laughs).
Another scene, that is also not out yet, is "Caramel Hunnies" by Elegant Angel and it's with Lexington Steele. I have worked with Lexington Steele before, but it's like I told my fans just because I've worked with him before, every single scene I do I make different, I make it more out there, so it wouldn't be the same scene again with Lexington Steele. After we shot the scene even Lexington was like, "whoa, that was different than the last scene that I shot" (laughs). So I'm excited about that.
And the last one I'm also excited about is the scene with Rocco Siffredi. Rocco is known for being very powerful and aggressive in his scenes, and there's not many female performers that are my kind of build, as far as being strong, you know, like actual showing muscles kind of strong (laughs). So he wasn't used to the fact that one, I could take certain things, and that I could do things back to him. For instance, he likes to choke and the kind of slapping that doesn't hurt, but it's more like sexual slapping, and he is not used to someone turning around and choking him back. So he was choking me, and then I turned around and choked him back, and he sat down like, "what, what" (laughs). So those are the scenes that I'm super excited about because it's a different level of my performance.
TB: You got to be the trophy girl at The Fanny Awards this year and I understand that several women asked you to help them train after seeing you up there. Can you talk a little bit about that experience?
SF: Honestly, it doesn't matter where I go, whether it's the adult industry or anywhere else, I'm always talking about fitness. That's just how I am, it always happens to come up whether I bring it up or they bring it up. One of my agents actually just did a film with some girls and he said, "if you're looking to change something with your body, talk to Sophia."
So I was there (ed. The Fanny Awards), and they saw me on stage and the dress I wore was tighter so you could see my body and my muscles. I got a lot of really cool feedback after that as far as people wanting to know about training and even diet. Training is pretty cool, because a number of girls aren't used to working out because they're just naturally thin, and they're still beautiful as far as how they look on film, but there's a lot more people doing butt implants and liposuction, and I'm just like, "you could be saving that money, if you'd just do squats with me" (laughs).
One of my biggest things is building butts, and I'll talk to them about their diet and how to change their body. I worked out with a friend the other day, I did a whole butt workout with her and she texted me to say, "my butt feels so high," and I said, "we haven't really done anything," and she's like "I know but it still feels good," (laughs).
Right now it's mostly just women that I really do get the attention of, but I do want to get into working more with guys, because one of the biggest things I also see is that guys, on set, they don't eat how they're supposed to. I've always heard from guys, "I can't eat before," and "I can't bring my own food," and stuff like that, so I want to get into more marketing toward the male performers and doing their diets. I have one more year left before getting my Bachelor's in Nutrition, so I know how to build nutritional plans. It's a really cool meeting grounds for clients for me (laughs).
TB: Is there anyone you haven't done a scene with yet that you'd really like to work with?
SF: Just off the top of my head, I haven't done a scene with James Deen, which I would really like to do one with him. And as far as female performers, I think I would like to work with Skin, I haven't worked with Skin Diamond yet. I was supposed to, but something happened, I'm not actually sure what happened, but I haven't worked with her yet. So yeah, those would be two that I kind of want to work with. I've worked with a lot of cool people, but just not them yet.
TB: Besides Ron Jeremy, is there anyone in the industry that makes you think, "man, I'd really love to get my hands on them and get them into better shape?"
SF: (Laughing) Awwwwww, way to put me on the spot here. Ummmm….
TB: (Laughing) It's kind of a loaded question, you don't have to answer that, I just thought I'd throw it out there.
SF: (Laughing) I was like, "I don't know how to answer that!"
Alright, well how about this one, who do you think has the best body, besides yourself obviously?
SF: Nicole Aniston, I actually just shot with her and I loooooove her body. She, for sure, is working on it, she really works it out. I've seen her fitness coach, and her body has just changed so much from when she first started, and it's not that I'm saying anything bad about her, she knows it as well, it looks awesome. She has more of a little bubble butt kind of a thing, and it's a good bubble butt now. I'm not sure what she does, or if she has a trainer, but she posts a lot of fitness posts during the day. Not as many as me, but quite a bit, which is really cool.
TB: Is there anything else you'd like your fans to know, or perhaps anyone that's discovering you for the first time?
So, I have my other website called Look Good Naked Lifestyle and I would like for people to see that I'm doing both, as far as being a fitness oriented performer. So people can go there and see my fitness videos and see my fitness website. I also want people to know that I have a lot more stuff that I'm going to do, I'm not done yet! (laughs)
