Britney’s Panties: eBay Item of the Week

Barring any DNA particle analysis and thorough forensic dusting for cheese-flavored snack food debris, we can't be completely sure that this lacy panty-like garment for sale on eBay this week is really the same one worn by Brit-Brit on her "wedding night" last month, despite the seller's claim that this piece of "amazing Britney memorabilia" is "100% guaranteed authentic". One hopes courteney1982 flouted eBay's policies regarding used clothing and body fluids and didn't launder them before putting them on the auction block, or else we'll never know for sure.

Update eBay pulled the auction (hope it wasn't out fault!), but we have a screen shot—along with the official word from her publicist.

According to Rush and Malloy: "The auction site 'has hit a real low,' says Britney's rep Leslie Sloane, denying any possibility that the panties could have ever belonged to her client or her new hubby." (NY Daily News - via Defamer, who also offers a helpful translation.)

Update 10.7 courteney1982 is now cgb2003, a matching bra has joined the panties, and the items are now described as "new" ("from Victoria's Secret where Britney is known for going on crazy shopping sprees!") and merely "personally owned by Britney Spears" instead of actually "worn on her wedding night" - but otherwise it's "The Auction Featured All Over The News!!". Actually, our favorite part of this isn't what's for sale, but the fact that someone named 'foxybobbytrendy' dropped out of the bidding at $120. (And yes, we took screenshots of this version too, just in case.)

(Inevitable) Update The "new and improved!" auction's been yanked as well, after reaching a bid amount of $14,500. For that kind of money, we could've hired a goon squad to break into the Spears-Federline compound to steal us our own set.
