Five Ways Feature Dancing Is Different from Porn by Dillion Harper

Pretty Dillion Harper has followed in the footsteps of many of her fellow porn stars by becoming a feature dancer on the strip club circuit, which is a whole world of its own. Harper can handle her own on a porn shoot or the stripper stage. She is a woman I love, so I thought it would be great to check in with the sweet and sexy Harper. Here's what she had to say.

Five Ways Feature Dancing is Different from Porn

Over the summer I went to New York City and performed my first feature dancing gig at Headquarters Gentlemen’s Club in New York City. It was so exciting and amazing, and I look forward to doing this a lot more! But feature dancing is a lot different than shooting porn, and here are the five ways where they differ.

1. The roar of the crowd! Sure there are lots of people on set when you shoot porn movies but nobody is clapping and cheering you on when you come on set. I loved the energy of all of these wonderful people who came out on a Friday night to see me. And the more love I got off stage the more love I gave onstage.

2. You can’t take a time out. I don’t take a lot of breaks when I’m shooting. You need to be mindful about production time, but of course if I need to scratch my nose or get a quick drink of water, or rearrange myself, I can do it. On stage you can’t stop the action once it starts so when I felt my outfit was slipping off (not on purpose) or my hair got in my face, I learned to kind of work it into a dance move. Tossing my hair sexy instead of moving it out of my face, hooking my fingers on my outfit, these are little “cheats” that nobody notices.

3. You are your own director and producer. Feature dancing is fun because you’re in charge of everything. You choose your music, your outfit, your dance moves and that’s very empowering. It’s not like I can’t put my own spin on things on set. You have someone above you who has a vision, and you have to follow that direction to a T. When I danced I got to be my own boss and it was liberating.

4. You have to pose while you dance! Feature dancing isn’t a photoshoot but press photographers, fans and club photographers are filming and taking photos of you the whole time, so as you dance you need to strike camera-friendly poses that will read well on film. I make sure to show my best side and try to make everything as flattering as possible; you don’t want to look like a sloppy, sweaty mess all over the web and in magazines.

5. When you’re done, you’re not done. When you’re finished onstage you’re not finished working. Sure you go upstairs and get cleaned up and change, chug some water and freshen your make up, but then you have to go back downstairs to meet and greet with the public. You sign autographs, pose for photographs and for those with some extra cash, do some lap dances. Feature dancing is the best way for an adult actress to get close to her fans, and the fans are what it’s all about.
