A Field Guide To Katie Cassidy

They say you never forget your first time – by which we assume they mean "your first time watching Katie Cassidy's first topless sex scene." Sure, we haven't seen the full movie yet, but Cassidy's already made a serious impression (on our pants); and now we're dying to know a whole bunch more about her. (Technically speaking, we're also dying to see a whole bunch of of her naked, but we'll settle for learning about her backstory while we wait for her to shoot a bunch more scenes.)

First things first: yes, Katie Cassidy is, in fact, the daughter of David Cassidy (yes, Keith Partridge), and thus a member of the illustrious Cassidy performer clan – so her career in the entertainment industry likely came as a surprise to no one. But don't hold her hereditary fame against her – those she comes from a long line of performers (even her grandparents were in the biz!), she's definitely earned her stripes. (And, as controversial a statement as this may be, we happen to think she has much nicer breasts than her father.)

As you may have guessed, Cassidy – who was born November 25, 1986 – grew up in the lovely city of Los Angeles. Her mother – fashion model Sherry Williams, as it happens – raised Cassidy and her two sisters with husband (and Cassidy's stepfather) Richard Benedon, MD. Cassidy's childhood was a whirlwind of activities, as she  took gymnastics, studied piano, guitar and singing, then took dancing and acting lessons and eventually became a cheerleader for the California Flyers, a competitive cheerleading team. Though she was itching to get her career on the road, her mother (sensibly, we think) insisted that Cassidy put her education first, requiring Cassidy to take college prep classes before she attempted to make a career as an actress. But even as she was diligently studying, Cassidy was still preparing for a career as an entertainer, performing in community theater and modeling and laying the groundwork for a career after Calabasas High School.

Although we have to admit, Cassidy wasn't exactly the best at that whole waiting thing. At the age of fifteen, she attempted to stake her claim as a performer with a cover of "I Think I Love You," the Partridge Family hit. But Cassidy was not destined to be a singer, it seems: the recording didn't lead to any major contracts, and even her father – who she was estranged from at the time – went on the record to say he thought she was too young to launch a music career, and had yet to pay the dues she needed to be a bona fide music star.

But what she lacked in patience, she made up for in persistence. Early failure did not deter Cassidy: a year later she was off on a different path, trying her hand at TV/film acting. And it was here that she found some serious success. Her first role was a guest appearance on Lifetime drama "The Division," this was soon followed by more TV guest appearances ("Listen Up," "Sex, Love, & Secrets," "7th Heaven"), and then, as Cassidy was graduating high school (and mulling over whether to attend NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts), she finally began to land some film roles. Early film appearances included Dee Dee in "The Lost" and Tiffany in "When a Stranger Calls," after these roles, her career began to pick up steam, with Cassidy regularly picking up work in film and TV. 

Cassidy's starred in far too many films and shows (including a long list of CW titles like "Melrose Place," "Supernatural," "Arrow," and "Gossip Girl") for us to go into detail on each and every one, so let's cut to the chase and talk about her first nude scene. True to form, Cassidy didn't wait long before showing skin on camera; her first topless role came out in 2007, when she appeared as a stripper known as Jewel in "Live!", a mockumentary following an ambitious TV network executive trying to produce a controversial reality show where contestants play Russian Roulette. Unlike some actresses who shall remain nameless, Cassidy was totally willing to get into the part and show her naked breasts; we, on our part, are still totally willing to watch her scene over and over again.

After "Live!", Cassidy seemed to take a break from nudity, focusing on fully clothed roles (like many of the ones we mentioned above). But with the release of "The Scribbler," we've got the return of naked Katie – and a fascinating sounding plot, to boot. Katie's fame may have yet to reach the level of her father or other illustrious family members, but something tells us that, with a few more choice roles like this one, she'll soon be eclipsing the rest of the Cassidy clan. (And even if she doesn't, her boobs still look better than her father's.)
