CDC Reports 110 Million People Have STDs… Bummer

EDITORIAL FEATURES

nullIf you’ve been watching the news recently, it seems as if there's another health scare every day. Whether it’s Ebola, or Bird Flu, or some crazy diseases that doesn’t have a name yet, we Americans are always worried about catching something. While we freak out about something from overseas making us sick however, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that around 110 million Americans have STDs. Yep, you read that correctly, 110 million.

Using data from 2008, the CDC reports around 50.5 million men and 59.5 million women are walking around with a strange itch or complaining about how much it hurts to pee. Chlamydia comes in at #1 among STDs, with gonorrhea coming in second. Other STDs included in the data are HIV, hepatitis B, genital herpes, human papillomavirus (HPV), syphilis, and trichomoniasis. Most new infections occur in young people, those aged 15-24. I know it is hard to believe that all the "abstinence only" sex education isn’t working. Guess we should try "super abstinence only" sex education.   Seriously, be careful out there.

I’m not going to lie, sex is freaking awesome. It should be a wonderful and pleasure experience for everyone involved. I know it can hard in the heat of the moment to think clearly, but wrapping it up or using a dental dam is far more enjoyable than having genital warts. Be smart, be safe, be healthy.

Now, to make everyone feel better, here are some hot chicks kissing.
