We all know that sex sells, but sex has never really been presented overtly in advertising (unless you count SNL's classic Schmitt's Gay commercial). Well, leave it to Slovak artist Matus the First to turn potentially the unsexiest thing in history, the pencil sharpener, into the most erotic inanimate object since the peach pie in Labor Day.
This commercial comes to us courtesy of The Mirror (link below), who interviewed the artist behind the commercial. Matus provided some appropriately enigmatic explanations for his choice to use a pencil sharpener to advertise sex.
The 26-year-old film maker said: "When sex becomes a routine it is necessary to change something. "Therefore this is not a product commercial, because you can't buy a solution to some things.
"I felt though that in some cases it might be important for people to change something in their minds and this commercial is not only about sex but also about thinking."
All this thinking has got me thinking, the metaphor is obvious, but the subliminal imagery seems like it might turn off more people than it turns on. At the same time, people get off to some pretty weird shit, so maybe this thing will have sacs being feathered across the countryside.
