PETA is one of those organizations that I want to like, because I do believe in their message, it's just that their tactics are almost always insufferably asinine. They are, after all, people for the ethical treatment of animals, but ethics are something that the vast majority of their constituency seems to be severely lacking.
Take this latest stunt in London for "World Vegan Day" for example. Rather than trying to, you know, pass out literature or convert people to their cause, members opted instead to get nude and cover themselves in blood in Trafalgar Square. Nothing conveys the message that one should become a vegan quite like demonstrating how psychopathic vegans can be.
I'm also disheartened by the sheer number of old wrinkly dongs I have to look at in these photos. I know it's tough to get guys to doff their clothes in the name of veganism or whatever, but there were far too many tanned, presumably French, old men eager to show off their shortcomings at this display.
PETA has not released any official stats as to how many people have converted to a vegan diet after this, but I expect them to release that information shortly while standing in the Parthenon and flinging bloody tampons at passersby.
