In a world seemingly alight with bad news, finally a ray of promise breaks through the clouds. I often chuckle when I read the rantings of some old white man who bitches about his liberties being eroded, but a new Medicare spending cuts proposal is targeting those old bastards right in their most sensitive area.
According to Bloomberg (link below), while erectile dysfunction pills such as Viagra are not covered by Medicare, penis pumps are, and Congress is looking to put the kibosh on that shit.
Medicare’s prescription-drug benefit, created in 2003, generally isn’t permitted to cover Viagra or other erectile-dysfunction medicines. A bill under consideration by Congress would put a similar ban on the pump devices some people use as an alternative.
Okay, how much could we possibly be spending on penis pumps for old men though?
Medicare spent $172 million on the devices from 2006 to 2011, the inspector general for the Department of Health and Human Services found in a December 2013 report. The payments were “grossly excessive,” the deputy inspector general, Gloria Jarmon, said at the time, because Medicare paid more than twice retail prices for the pumps.
I can't wait until they have to start confiscating these penis pumps from men. I imagine it will be a hoot...
