Five Things I Love About The Sandman (And Death!) by Draven Star

EDITORIAL FEATURES

Alt hottie Draven Star just did this great cosplay scene over at Burning Angel as Death from writer Neil Gaiman's award-winning "Sandman" comic book series for DC.  I love Star and I looooooove me some Sandman.  I even have a Sandman tattoo. Oh, I am a fan girl. Tommy Pistol is here as Lucifer Morningstar from DC Vertigo's "Lucifer" series.  (Also hot.)  I had to ask Star about what she loves about the whole Sandman universe.  Here's what she had to say.

5 Things I Love About Sandman (And Death!)

1. First, I just love that I got to be a psychopomp. I've always found the 'grim reaper' and different versions of it super interesting. How it can be a symbol of comfort or one of fear. Playing Death was awesome as I got to kinda do that, but still got to be hella sexy and look like myself. ;)

2. I love a good mix of horror, fantasy and dark humor. Between the stories in the comics and how darkly detailed the illustrations are, my attention is easily kept and I wanna to keep reading. I usually just read books, I like to imagine things on my own...so thats kind of a big deal. Its super visually stunning to me.

3. Death has no rules, and is more powerful than just about anything; but it isn't taken advantage of. I think it's so rad that every century she lives as a mortal, to stay in touch with humanity. Then she's back to being there when you're born...and finally guiding you to your final destination.

4. I'm a big fan of stories of stories! A lot of the books I read are series. I like entering into a different world and having it actually feel that way...like, different people's points of view and secrets you only got half truths on that eventually come to light. Sandman is super full of that. Its like really being in a different dimension or something.

5. Neil Gaiman has written, "The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision.". I think that that quote really says a lot about the series, and it applies to like, everything. Shit happens and you gotta go with it, adapt. You have to evolve. Even if you were held captive for 70 years. ;)

I adore Star even more now than I did before.  Sigh.  Follow Star on Twitter to stay in touch with her dreaming.  Here's a clip of her scene with Pistol.  Go watch the whole scene by clicking here!
