Porn Review: Between the Headlines: A Lesbian Porn Parody

Nothing is more ripe for parody than media and politics, especially in the porn industry, and Filly Films realizes the need to put a pornographic spin on the often caustic relationship between politics and media. Director/Performer Lily Cade bawdily builds upon the idiom, politics makes strange bedfellows, in the feature Between the Headlines: A Lesbian Porn Parody.

Set during an election cycle, the film’s overall plot hinges on Elena (Vanessa Veracruz), a sexy staffer that witnesses political powerhouses Hillary (Nina Hartley) and Michelle (Lotus Lain) locked in a post-pussy licking moment of cuddling. With her newfound knowledge of her bosses’ same-sex indiscretions, Elena must decide whether to run to the media to incriminate them—something her girlfriend (Eli Darling) suggests, because this is the kind of story political tabloid mouthpieces Megyn K. (Aaliyah Love) and Rachel M. (Lily Cade) love to report on—or just keep her mouth shut. Hillary is hoping on the latter of the two, and she sends out her fine fixer Aiden Star to make Veracruz an offer that she can’t refuse.

Lain and Hartley kick off the film and set the plot in motion, enjoying each other’s bodies with their mouths and fingers in a scene that runs just over twenty-five minutes and features a seemingly endless variety of sexual positioning sprinkled with bawdy banter between the stars. Hartley manages to interject humor into the scene while further proving her legendary status in the business. Lain is no slouch in the scene—she’s able to match Hartley lick-for-lick without breaking much of a sweat.

Veracruz and Darling continue the action by getting intimate in a smooch-heavy session on a couch, eventually leading to Darling going down on Veracruz. Darling has an apparent enthusiasm for pussy licking—it’s a skill that comes natural to her. And like all good girls, Veracruz returns the favor in a lengthy lapping of her co-star’s snatch. The beauty of Veracruz is equally matched by the passion of Darling in this lengthy scene of pure erotic excitement.

The third scene is a blonde on blonde affair highlighted by the tongue-to-crotch interaction between Zoey Monroe and Aaliyah Love during an impromptu hook up in the office kitchen. While taking turns going down on each other, the scene comes to a climax during a moaning-moment of 69-loving. But the ladies are far from done, and they continue their steamy encounter by using their fingers. The two gals are equally matched in their sexiness and willingness to give their all to the scene.

The film’s final scene sees Veracruz return to team up with Starr and Cade for a frantic threesome. The short-haired sweetie shows her dexterity for double teaming two sexually demanding dames, skillfully pleasuring her co-stars with her tongue and fingers. It’s a passionately aggressive threesome that makes me glad that Cade put down the camera and put on a real show.  

In the often overcrowded genre of lesbian films, Cade continues to prove that she has a dominant yet enthusiastic voice that demands to be heard. She has an intuitive eye for crafting scenes that simultaneously allows for the actresses to perform in an organic space without losing control of the carnal action. Like a pervy puppeteer, Cade knows when to pull her directorial strings and when to just slightly maneuver the control bar. Directorially speaking, I never thought Cade would never be able to top her 2013 release, Red Hot Lesbians, but Between the Headlines: A Lesbian Porn Parody is probably her best camera work to date. Bravo, Lily. Bravo.
