Blonde intersex actress Taylor Lianne Chandler became famous in recent days for her alleged affair with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps. She is the star of "Going For The Gold" that is currently only available online. She has also co-written "The Making of Going for The Gold" with Lissa Trevor available through her website that talks about the making of the movie along with her life as an intersex (also known as a hermaphrodite) person. I love Chandler's eloquence and how she holds herself strong in a world filled with prejudice and misunderstanding. Here are her answers to twenty questions.
1) What were you like back in high school? Who did you hang out with/date?
High school was interesting because my grandparents cut my hair and forced me to wear a boy uniform. Out of school, weekends and summers I was all girl. By the time I got to 10th grade I went to public school for a semester so I could be me again, a girl. I loved it. I was popular and had lots of friends. I was always the class clown and quick witted and used it to diffuse anyone's uncomfortableness with me.
2) Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?
No porn fan here. I was raised by grandparents. My grandfather built a porn room in our summer home in Maine and my grandmother despised it. She believed sex was to procreate and I think even then she hated it. I grew up thinking sex was dirty. Part of that was being the victim of sexual abuse for many years and then suffering incest by my oldest uncle. As an adult after having corrective surgery and still having stitches I was gang raped. Years prior to that I was raped at gun point, beaten and left for dead in a field. He was prosecuted and went to prison. I think that is why my relationships suffer. I see sex as dirty and when a man wants it it changes how I see them. Sex to me is like washing dishes. It is just something you do.
3) What do you think shaped you into the performer that we see "Going For The Gold"?
Because of being the victim of sexual abuse, I became Borderline Personality Disorder. You don't develop your own personality and you learn to become and adapt to whatever is needed to survive or protect yourself. It is easy for me to adapt and become other people. In that movie I was reliving my love affair with a man I cared deeply for and on some levels still do. The parts where we took creative deviations I just became whatever they needed me to be. My life has consisted of sex since I was 1-1/2 years old till now. As I got older I used it as a weapon in business to get deals done. The joke in the office was that Taylor learned to play golf 2-3 times a week.
4) What/Who do you want to do on-camera next?
I see this as a one and done, but I never thought I would do the first one, so I guess I can never say never. This was me reliving my love story with Michael Phelps, I don't know where I would go next. Maybe reproduce some of my other famous loves in the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. Do you want to make more movies? The quick answer is no. We all have our price and if the right thing came a long, maybe. I know I would want Kimberly Kane and Matty, and Cammy Darling on set for sure. That is a winning recipe and I feel safe with them.
5) What can fans expect from your book that they don’t get to see in the movie?
You can get more details. You get to understand what was going on in my head and how this wasn't an easy decision. You learn more about my career before I became famous. I take you inside Michael's house to the point you feel like you were there. You get a better understanding of how easy it was to fall for him. You learn more about how my life fell apart after the DUI and he left for rehab.
6) You respond to your fans a lot on Twitter. How are their interactions with you?
That is a double edged sword. The fans that love me I truly enjoy. The one that hate me, no matter what I say or tell them or show them they go away thinking the same way they came in. They are loyal to Michael the public persona, as they don't know him like I do. I have eased back a lot due to time. I am so busy now traveling, doing interviews and promoting the book and movie, and I don't have as much time. I have over 15,000 messages on Facebook alone. A lot of them have given me hope on a day when all seems lost. The remind me of what is important and they encourage me like a parent would. A lot of them make me feel pretty. I get called so many horrible things that to have someone say how pretty or gorgeous or banging my body is means the world to me.
7) What do you enjoy most sexually?
I like intimacy and closeness which for the first time in my life I had with Michael. I would have done anything with him and practically did. I felt like Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed. The first time his lips touched mine and his tongue thrust into my mouth it was over. He had me. I was all his. Since shooting the movie I have learned I like my pussy slapped, not light taps, but slapped. It is an amazing turn on.
8) What did you love most about making “Going For The Gold”?
The glamour of it all and feeling and being treated like a star. All those people were there for me. I look beautiful; it makes me want to look like that everyday. If I could afford to have [makeup artist] Cammy Darling just sitting and waiting, I would. I liked how Vivid respected my boundaries and made me feel comfortable pushing them and learning things I didn't know about myself
9) How did you select your scene partner for “Going For The Gold”?
I knew Ty (Roderick) from social media. He was one of my fans. We started talking and clicked. I liked him. This was the first time since Michael I felt something for someone. Not to mention he is drop dead gorgeous. He had been out of the business for 6 months, but after many nights of long conversations and days full of texts he agreed to do it with me. I am not a porn star. I need to feel something and have a connection. What you see on screen almost duplicates the first time with Michael. [Vivid co-owner] Marci Hirsch made it clear we couldn't sleep together until it was on film. The night before shooting he took me to dinner, showed me the city, then we got undressed and laid naked in each other's arms till we fell asleep. It was the best night of sleep since being with Michael.
10) How has making this movie changed your life?
It has changed how friends and family see me and not in a good way. It has made it so people recognize me wherever I go. It has made the people that already hated me hate me more for tarnishing Michael's name. For me it gave me validation as a woman and freed me of years of hangups about sex. It showed me how beautiful I look on camera naked.
11) What do you want the world to know about your alleged affair with Michael Phelps?
That it wasn't alleged...LOL! That we talked for months, had sex several times, that whether it was a lie or not he made me feel like I was the only girl in the world. He opened me up sexually. He made me realize I was more than my scars from an accident. He didn't see what made me different, he saw what made me whole. That is about the scars head to toe and all the metal in my body and face, not my vagina.
12) What do you most want to accomplish with this release?
I want it to be a success and show no matter how different you are, you can make it.
13) What do you like to do for fun?
Shop. I am the ultimate label whore and have been my whole life. I like thrift shopping and antiques and designing homes.
14) What else is coming up for you?
Book two and a made-for-TV movie, lots of traveling and TV. Hopefully love.
15) What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?
"American Sniper", I was on Howard Stern with Bradley [Cooper]. My ex-husband is retired Navy. I was a Navy wife for 6 years. I can relate to so much of this. People take their freedom for granted and don't know the sacrifices of the soldiers as well as the families and children left behind.
16) How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?
I have never watched porno, but I have seen mine many times...LOL. I can honestly say I think Criss Strokes is hot, even though I have never seen his movies.
17) Are you into toys to get yourself off alone or are you more low-tech?
Most of my life, no. When I was married we used the Rabbit, Pocket Rocket...LOL. Now that Michael has shown me what an orgasm can do and seeing his cum all over me, I enjoy reliving that. I just need to find the perfect toy for me.
18) If you could fuck any other celebrity (allegedly), who would it be? Give us your male and female choices.
Unfortunately Paul Walker was my dream :-) Now it would be Ryan Reynolds or Morris Chestnut. If I was going to dip in the lady pond, it would be Demi Rose Mawby.
19) What would you most like to change about the perception of intersex people, overall?
They are just like anyone else. There is no reason to not accept them and treat them different. All the people that liked me, loved me and cherished my body. That should be proof enough that the problem and hang up is misplaced and in your own head. Expand your horizons. Don't live your life based on what other people think. Live by the 3 F's: Feed, Fuck and Finance. If you don't do those three things, your opinion about my life doesn't matter.
20) Is there anything you want to say to your new fans here at Fleshbot?
I appreciate the love and even if you don't love me the willingness to listen and learn and keep and open mind. I hope you love my film and books and anything else I set my mind too and when I am in a city near you come out and meet me, take a picture and realize how normal and down to earth I am.
