Have you ever wondered what the most popular (read: overused) word in erotic literature is? Well, as the title of the article may indicate, a new study found that it's the word cock. I'm not entirely sure how such a study gets funded, but there you have it.
According to The Mirror (link below), psychologist Mark Allen Thornton set out to discover what the most popular themes in erotica are, but discovered some interesting tidbits along the way like the overuse of the word cock.
Either writers aren’t very imaginative when it comes to penis-based vocab, or they just really, really like the word ‘cock’. According to Thornton, about 2/3rds of the stories he analysed were written by men.
It also shows that a lot of erotica is about penises rather than vaginas. Draw your own conclusions.
Other popular words were:
- Pussy
- Asshole
- Master
- Mom
- Mouth
- Tongue
- Blood (!?)
Another interesting theme is that the older women get, the more interested they seem to become in BDSM, and by the time they turn 50, they're just full-on into Fetish writing. Check out this graph...
To interpret the graphic: dark red indicates where there are more stories than you'd expect - dark blue where there are fewer.
How about the men? What are the men getting in to?
Right, so it looks like the fellas are either into Loving Wife or Transgender stories. Sounds about right.
