Regrow Your Foreskin At The Risk Of Becoming A Spider-Man Villain

Circumcision remains a hotly debated topic in America, with many parents wondering aloud, "To cut, or not to cut?" Well there's good news on the horizon for anyone who regrets cutting or being cut, though it sounds uncomfortably like the origin of one of Spider-Man's most famous villains, so take this all with a grain of salt.

U.S.-based medical company Foregen is close to unlocking foreskin regrowth through regeneration, and they liken the process to a lizard regrowing its tail...

Regeneration is the ability of the body to regrow tissue when it is lost by trauma, disease, or other misadventure. The most famous example of this is the salamander, which can reproduce whole arms, legs, tails, and other body parts within days following their amputation. Salamanders are, however, not the only creatures with such powers humans have them naturally as well (at least for a time) while developing in the womb.

According to Queerty, the medical community remains divided on whether or not circumcision is necessary, but there are many cases of circumcised men losing sensation on the head of their dick.

“The foreskin is not an optional extra for a man’s body, or an accident,” the company claims. “It is an integral, functioning, important component of a man’s penis. An eye does not function properly without an eyelid–and nor does a penis without its foreskin.”

Foregen says it’s currently working on learning just how to regenerate human foreskin. No human clinical trials have been conducted yet, but foreskin fibroblasts (small samples of foreskin tissue) have been successfully used to generate new skin in a lab setting.

“Our goal is to advance onto human clinical trials as soon as it is safe to do so,” the company says. The time frame? “Very soon, we hope!”

I scoured the website and couldn't find anyone working there named Curt Connors, but I'm telling you, this ends with someone becoming a Spider-Man villain.
