Fuck, it was such a drag learning of Leonard Nimoy's death last week. He was SPOCK, for fuck's sake. I remember spending time as a child at my cousin's house watching "Star Trek" reruns on the living room floor and I remember thinking that in space, that anything was possible. Nimoy told us all to do what his character said all the time, to "live long and prosper". It's hard to think of a kinder wish for humanity.
Nimoy was quite the creative soul and back in 2007, he put out "The Full Body Project: A Collection of Photographs by Leonard Nimoy". It's an excellent collection of photographs of BBWs and they are all mostly nude. Nimoy was always quite the shooter but this book of his is special in his choice as an artist and a celebrity to shoot women of size beautifully.
Author Natalie Angier, who wrote The Full Body Project’s introduction, told Mashable, “It really disturbed him that women who considered themselves overweight had this terrible feeling about themselves,” she said. “He wanted to show the world that there’s beauty to be found in different body types.”
How fucking cool is that? What an insanely wonderful man. LLAP and safe travels, sir.
