Serbian born Bojana Novakovic will most assuredly not be returning to Shameless next winter, but the actress has landed on her feet by scoring a role in the new Amazon original series Casanova. French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie, City of Lost Children) will be directing the pilot, meaning we might get some artsy topless shots of Bojana.
According to Deadline Hollywood (link below), Y Tu Mamá También's Diego Luna will star as the titular hero, though it appears the show will be focusing more on Casanova's espionage than his womanizing.
The untitled project, which is currently filming in Europe, chronicles a little-known period in the life of the famous 18th century renaissance man. Known primarily as a womanizer, Casanova (Luna) actually served as a spy for the Parisian government. The show begins after he breaks free from Venice’s most impenetrable prison and moves to Paris with nothing—determined to start his life over after his wild ways left him behind bars. Following a journey full of passionate romance and incredible danger, the series will reveal the other side of the infamous Venetian, whose talents ranged from diplomacy to music to linguistics.
Yeah, we get it, he was much more than a lothario. That doesn't preclude him from ever having been one, nor should it prevent them from including just a little something for those of us who enjoy that sort of thing.
