The Princess of Porn, Tasha Reign

EDITORIAL FEATURES

null

Growing up, Tasha Reign fantasized about becoming either a princess or a porn star. In a way, she became both.

An Orange County native and former Hooters Girl, Reign appeared on the third season of MTV's Laguna Beach. Aerobic pole dancing lessons led to Reign stripping at Silver Reign. While dancing nights and attending UCLA during the day, Reign was recruited to pose for Playboy's 2010 spread, "Girls of the Pac-10." The following year she was the centerfold in the April issue of Penthouse before being named the May 2011 Penthouse Pet. From there, Reign signed with LA Direct and started filming hardcore sex scenes.

In the fall of 2012 the enterprising starlet launched Reign Productions, for which she produces, writes, directs, and stars in films that feature a hyper-feminine aesthetic. I got a chance to chat with Reign at the 2015 AVNs about her Reignbow Butt Plugs, bronies, "feminine BDSM," anal princesses, her fans, and how she meets men.

Alfie: Which came first, Reignbow Pony Butt Plugs or the idea to shoot Pony Tales.

Tasha Reign: The plugs, but I definitely was thinking about the movie for forever. I read the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by Anne Rice, who is one of my favorite authors, and I was so inspired. I’ve never read anything that nasty before. You would never know that an older woman could create something like that, or anyone really. It makes Fifty Shades of Grey look PG-13. So I had this fantasy, and I love, love My Little Pony dolls. I’m a kid at heart. I’m kind of a dork. And the idea just came to me.

Alfie: What has been the response to Pony Tales from bronies (men who fetishize My Little Pony)?

Tasha Reign: They are pretty quiet about it but I get boys ordering those movies all the time. It’s really cute because they can have the movie or the poster inscribed and they always want something written that has to do with being a bronie.

Alfie: What sold better, the movie or the butt plugs?

Tasha Reign: The movie has sold really well. Movies are easily attainable. Men and women can watch them. They are a fantasy as opposed to a physical object.

Alfie: In Deep Inside Tasha, Dane Cross fucks you while he’s wearing a bunny suit. Was this meant to target furries?

Tasha Reign: No, I’m just so quirky. I have these ideas and I just go with them. I definitely wasn’t thinking of furries at the time. I wanted to make something Easter oriented for my fans. So I did that, but it ended up being kind of scary because his costume was not a cute bunny. It was a scary bunny and I was a little, genuinely freaked out. And it was like 90 degrees on a hot California summer day and we were outside on the grass. There were bugs everywhere. I was like, "Get me out of here." My makeup was coming off. I looked crazy.

Alfie: Why didn’t they just put bunny ears on him like they did with male costumes in Pony Tales?

Tasha Reign: Well it was my production. I picked that outfit for him.

Alfie: You picked out the scary bunny costume?

Tasha Reign: Oh yeah. I direct them all. Everything I do for Girlfriends Films I create. He cut little holes in the dirty parts. It’s weird. It’s a weird film.

Alfie: What happens to an outfit like that after you cut holes in it and use it for a freaky sex scene?

Tasha Reign: It’s in my closet. I almost want to sell it to fans as a joke.

Alfie: So even though you didn’t make those movies for bronies or furries, have you investigated doing movies that incorporate other niche, fetishes that also fit with your hyper-feminine aesthetic?

Tasha Reign: I like things to be fun and quirky but I actually have to think it is attractive. I’ve looked at different fetish stuff for sure. I think the next thing I do will be bondage, but instead of being like a dark dungeon, it’s going to be white and blown out and have like, pink handcuffs. It’ll be BDSM for people who are intimidated by the darker side of BDSM. I watch hard BDSM, but I don’t want to shoot that. I want to do soft, feminine BDSM.

Alfie: Who do you think is the market for your ultra feminine style?

Tasha Reign: Me. Haha.

Alfie: You just make what appeals to you and hope others like it too?

Tasha Reign: Yeah, I do, but I think everyone likes hot blondes with big tits. But I should start marketing toward like one genre.

Alfie: Are there any other unique sex toys you want to incorporate into a movie so you can sell them both as a package deal?

Tasha Reign: I’m talking to a few different companies right now about different product lines, like the girly BDSM gear with pink flair. I haven’t seen much of that and I think it would really fit my image. I’m not opposed to making different toys. I’ve just been busy. I graduated college and went to Europe. I got home not that long ago, so, you know, I’m still getting back into work.

Alfie: After starting Reign Productions, do you miss being able to just perform and go home after your scene wraps?

Tasha Reign: I still perform all the time for different companies. I just got off someone else’s set yesterday. I don’t put out that many movies, but when I do they are special to me. I have been so busy doing everything for Reign Productions that I really appreciate just showing up to a set, getting my hair and makeup done and performing. I know how much energy it takes to plot something out. I love working for other companies.

Alfie: Are you going to do any princess-themed films? I know you did have one vignette scene like that.

Tasha Reign: Oh yeah, with Peter North. That was so intense. He is so big. He was my first anal. I don’t know what I was thinking. That was like, a lot of work. Honestly, Axel Braun does fairytale films for Wicked Pictures. They are big budget and they are so pretty. I would almost prefer to be in one of those. But I am not opposed to doing one with different little stories. I wanted to do “Anal Princesses” but I haven’t committed. I think my fans would like that.

Alfie: How did your partnership with Barrett Blade begin?

Tasha Reign: I met Barrett on a bunch of different sets. I like the way he works with women. I like that he is respectful of the girls. He can get on board with my vision, and he is very passionate about his projects. He will stay up to 4 AM editing or picking out clips or whatever, because he wants all of his films to look good and be nominated. He’s been doing more of an artistic, cinematic look, and less gonzo, which I love.

Alfie: When your editor sends you a cut of a scene, what are your typical notes? Do you ever request to see more of your boobs?

Tasha: I’ll definitely be like, “Hey, I can’t hear this person’s dialogue,” or, I’ll want more focus on certain things, because I know how much we shoot. If it’s not the way I want it I always tell my editor, Sonny Malone. She is actually nominated for best editing for Pony Tales.

Alfie: Are you going to start feature dancing more now that you finished college?

Tasha Reign: No. I, love feature dancing and I’m actually really good at it. It’s one of my strong points.

Alfie: Well you did start out as a dancer.

Tasha Reign: I was a dancer, but featuring is so different. You want a stage performance. You don’t just go shake your booty. But I don’t want to spend my 20s in a hotel room on the road. That’s not how I envisioned my life. If I’m on a vacation in Dubai, fine, but I don’t want to be in Ohio dancing. That’s not my dream. I want to dance, once a month, for the whole year. That’s it. I love doing it. I enjoy my fans. I make good money and I have fun. But, I don’t love flying and I don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere at below 15 degrees.

Alfie: Speaking of fans, what is the best and the creepiest way a fan has hit on you?

Tasha Reign: The creepiest is when people start making weird plans with you. They’ll be like, “We are going to my house in Hawaii.” I know it’s just their fantasy to tell me these things, but I don’t like it. It would be different if they were like, “I want to do this or that for you,” but they will literally be like, “This is what we are going to do.” I’m like, “What? No we are not going to do that, sir.”

Alfie: Do they ever bring you presents?

Tasha: Oh I love that. That is my favorite. I don’t even feel like they are hitting on me. I just feel like they are flattering me. Yesterday three different fans brought me Frozen paraphernalia, because I’m obsessed with Princess Elsa. So now I have shirts, cups, purses, lingerie sets. I love that.

Alfie: What’s an example of a bad gift?

Tasha Reign: Candy. Tell people to stop bringing adult actresses candy. It’s scary. What is this chocolate? Where has it been? The worst is when they ask, “Can I get you a drink?” You mean a roofie? No thank you. I’m good. I’m sure most of it is completely innocent, but I just don’t want food or liquor from fans.

Alfie: How do you meet guys?

Tasha Reign: That’s a really good question. I’m actually casually dating a few guys, one of which I actually met on an interview. He’s a news reporter and he’s so cute. I actually hit on him.

Alfie: An interview? Like the one we are conducting right now.

Tasha Reign: Yeah, except for ABC News.

Alfie: How did the pickup happen?

Tasha Reign: I tweeted him. I was like, “Oh, thank you so much for the interview. You are really cute.” And then he texted me, “You want to get drinks?” and I was like, “Oh my God, yeah.”

Alfie: So in that instance the line, "Can I get you a drink?" did work.

Tasha Reign: In that case, yes.
