A Field Guide to Rebel Wilson

Sexy blonde comedienne Rebel Wilson stars in the comedy that debuts in the theaters this weekend "Pitch Perfect 2" directed by Elizabeth Banks--the sequel to the hit original about a group of college a cappella singers who bond to each other through hijinks and pop songs.  Wilson's character is those films is Fat Amy and Fat Amy is loved by many for her relatability and general awesome attitude towards everything.  There is a lot more to curvy Aussie Wilson than Fat Amy....but Fat Amy is pretty great, especially when she shows President Obama her pussy during a acrobatic silk accident.  

Wilson hails from Sydney and was an avid math student who intended to take her love for numbers and parlay it into a career as a mathematician but Wilson's inate ability to make people laugh was there and she just could not turn it away.  She graduated at the University of South Wales and went on to study acting at the Australian Theatre for Young People.  Her comic abilities came out there even more and she made her TV debut on the Australian TV comedy "Pizza" where she played the role of Toula, leader of a girl gang.  She was on some other Aussie comedy TV shows with "The Wedge" and "Bogan Pride".  She received a scholarship to study at Second City in New York City so she left the land down under to come to the U.S. to take her comedy to the next level.

Her breakout role was in "Bridesmaids" where she auditioned for the Melissa McCarthy role but instead scored the role as Kristen Wiig's horrifically bad roommate courtesy of Judd Apatow who saw Wilson and knew that she was a diamond in the rough.  As the worst roommate ever, we get to see Wilson squeezed into a too small pair of jeans, showing off a terrible back tattoo of a tequila-drowned worm.  Wilson also reads Wigg's diary which Wilson's character thinks is just a "sad, hand-written book".  Ha!  Here is her lovely back with teh hilarious fake (I hope) ink on it.

From there, she got a lot of roles in American movies.  In "What To Expect When You're Expecting", Wilson played a lovable, breast milk-supporting sidekick in the Banks, Jennifer Lopez, Brooklyn Decker, Cameron Diaz and Whitney Port-starring comedy.  She starred in 2012's truly funny indie comedy "Bachelorette"--a selection at the Sundance Film Festival that year.  Wilson played the bride with old high school friends Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan who party like crazy, get her a dirty cop stripper to maul and rip her wedding gown to shreds.  It's a truly fun as fuck, light comedy and totally worth the rental.  IN the 2012 dark comedy "Small Apartments", Wilson plays a quirky goth neighbor to Matt Lucas and James Caan.  

From there, Wilson went on to star in the first "Pitch Perfect" where the world fell in love with Wilson's character of Fat Amy.  The runaway success of the movie led to her getting her own television comedy series "Super fun Night".  

Yeah, I pretty much want that neon bra and panty set in my permanent collection.  Oh, and Wilson looks goooood.  The series won a People's Choice Award for Best New TV Comedy but the ratings for it just were not there.  Wilson has said in interviews that people were expecting to see more of the Fat Amy character on it and that caused the failure of it.  Too bad.  The cast of Wilson in the lead with gal pals Liza Lapira and Lauren Ash made for some fun, chick-positive comedy.

From there, she starred as a shapely, pizza loving security guard in 2014's "Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb" starring Ben Stiller and she also made her BBW mark in lingerie with nunchucks on the action film "Pain & Gain" starring Dwayne Johnson   Coming up for Wilson is a role in an upcoming Sasha Baren Cohen movie titled "Grimsby" and Dakota Johnson starring rom-com called "How To Be Single" but right now, it is all fat Amy all the time and "Pitch Perfect" fan girls could not enjoy that more.  Her promotion of the movie at this year's MTV Movie Awards was a smash hit.  

Fuck yeah.  Now, I want that bra and those wings. (I have the shiny leggings.)

Wilson has her own t-shirt line--Fat Mandi for plus-sized women and was a Jenny Craig diet spokesmodel in Australia.  I just love how Wilson throws herself out there in everything she does.  There is no denying that she is beautiful and funny as fuck.  I am looking forward to way more of Wilson's comedy and I hope that more movies and television shows figure out how to use the awesome skills that Wilson has at her beck and call.
