There is probably nothing worse than leaving something behind, be it on an airplane or in a hotel room. In most cases, what's left behind is something small and common that’s easy to forget, like a phone charger or a pair of socks or your dignity. However, according to a new study from the website Laterooms.com, about 30% of the time, the most common item left behind in a hotel room is a sex toy.
According to this study, which was featured on The Mirror (link below), about one third of the items left in hotels rooms are of the adult toy variety. Electronics, like computers, cellphones, and tablets, may be at the top of the list, but there are times when it’s a dildo or blow-up sheep. Andrea Tarpey, one of the people who helped conduct the survey noted:
“Whilst we fully expected smartphones, laptops and chargers to top the list, we were really surprised by some of the more unusual items our hotel partners have come across in their rooms - especially the number who regularly find abandoned sex toys.”
“Our hoteliers are constantly amazed, and often outraged, by the things that guests routinely leave behind in their hotel rooms, with items ranging from the ordinary to the outlandish.
“The sheer variety of items left behind in hotel rooms reflects the huge range of reasons behind our customers’ breaks – and the wonderfully colourful and very different characters our hotel partners welcome into their guestrooms.”
It should be noted that about 26% of hotels typically return items that are left behind, but that does leave over 70% of left items sitting in the lost and found box. Well, I don’t know if there’s a lost and found box full of dildos in major hotels, but I kind of hope so. Nevertheless, it’s always important to take one last look around the room before you check out.
