Expired Heinz Ketchup QR Code Linked To Porn Site

null

Have you ever accidently typed a web address wrong and then looked up to notice that you’re at a porn site? If it’s never happened to you, awesome, but if it has it can be slightly awkward especially if you are at work or some other public place. Imagine the surprise Daniel Korell’s face when he entered QR code on a bottle of Heinz ketchup for an old promotion only to be lead to a hardcore porn site.

Awhile ago Heinz was running a contest for people to design a new label. All you had to do was scan the QR code and you’d be taken to the website. Well, the contest ended in 2014 and when Korell scanned the code the Heinz website was gone and it was replaced with porn. Korell said he tried scanning the code on different phones and even typed in the address manually and still he ended up in the same place. Korell took his complaints to Facebook and noted on the Heinz Facebook page:

"Even if the bottle was a leftover, it's still in lots of households," Korell said in a comment. "It's incomprehensible that you didn't reserve the domain for one or two years. A .de domain name really doesn't cost the Earth."

Heinz management apologized and offered free custom designed bottle and promised to listen to his suggestions.

I’m not surprised the QR code was taken up quickly, I’m kind of curious to know what the web address was. My guess is it has something to do with squirting, because you know, when you squeeze the ketchup bottle it squirts and sometimes when people get excited… well, you know. Anyway, I hope Korell enjoys his custome ketchup label. It should also be noted that Korell was offered a free membership to the porn site, no word if he accepted.
