Choking The Chicken For The Greater Good

This may or may not have ever happened to you, but you’re in a relationship and the sex is good, but nothing gets you off better than watching a new porn video. It can be an odd feeling, but apparently it shouldn’t be. In a new research study at The College of Wooster researchers found that dudes ejaculate faster and produce more, higher-quality sperm when they masturbate to a "novel female stimulus” or to put it another way, a new hot chick.

Now, this doesn’t mean that men are hardwired to cheat. This study isn’t giving guys permission to go out and bang lots of hot chicks and then claim “it’s in their DNA.” According to assistant professor of biology at Wooster Dr. Laura K. Sirot the study has nothing to do with monogamy.

"Our study does not suggest anything about whether monogamy was favored or disfavored by natural selection. However, the results of this study and other studies of human differential ejaculation behavior suggest that extra-pair (or extramarital) copulations may have occurred in our evolutionary past."

When you think about it, it’s kind of a cautionary tale. If you cheat, you might be more likely to knock up your mistress.

For this particular study 21 heterosexual men where asked to watch seven films from the Intimate Passions series over a period of 15 days and collect samples after they rubbed one out (not a scientific term). In the films the actor remained the same, but in the seventh film the actress was replaced with a new one. After examining the samples researchers noticed an increase in ejaculate volume and the number motile sperm after the men watched the seventh film.

"It is possible that, by chance,  the actresses or scenes randomly chosen for the novel trial for each participant tended to be ones that the men found more arousing," Sirot said. "We did not ask the men for a subjective rating of their level of arousal. However, our experiment was deliberately designed to try to eliminate any consistent differences between the video clips other than the novelty itself."

Besides the obvious benefit of providing new insights to our human biology, researchers hope to use their findings to help the diagnosis and treatment of male infertility. It should also be noted that the participants were all volunteers and no compensation was given. Seriously I would also like to ask how does one get on all these sex research participant lists? I mean, I’d gladly help out, you know, for science and stuff.
