Hope you had a great weekend. Much like everyone else, I saw Straight Outta Compton and helped it take $56 million at the box office for 1st place. It's a good film that starts off fucking excellent before turning into a Behind The Music episode. I won't spoil specifics--even if this is a biopic--but the intense opening of the film and the way too topical harassment N.W.A faces from racist cops makes it feel like the events take place today and not 1989. It's amazing how some things change yet everything stays the same. Wish the second half of the film matched the fascinating first hour instead of turning into a checklist of notable moments in Ice Cube and Dr. Dre's lives. Hey, that's Tupac and Snoop! I remember when Suge Knight beat the shit outta that guy! So that's how Dre came up with the hook for Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang!'
