Maggie Gyllenhaal Playing a 1970s Prostitute Named Candy Is Perfect Casting

Maggie Gyllenhaal Is Going to Be Great in The Deuce

If for some reason you weren’t excited about the new HBO series, The Deuce, which tells the story of life in Time Square during the 1970s and 1980s when it was all porn and prostitution instead of Disney and M&M stores, then these images of Maggie Gyllenhaal as a prostitute should help peak your interest.  

Honestly, I can’t think of any better casting. HBO often does a wonderful job finding the right people for the right part, but I kind of think that this was a no-brainer. Maggie Gyllenhaal will be playing the role of Candy, the prostitute. While I’m sure that’s not her official credit, you can’t say that it isn’t perfect. Seriously, close your eyes and think of who would be perfect in the role of Candy, the street walker in Times Square during the 1970s… Maggie Gyllenhaal! No doubt she’s the first pick in your mind. Yeah, the blonde curly wig may leave a little to be desired, but the short shorts and no bra kind of make up for it. Let’s just hope the wig is something Candy wears while working.  

I was already excited about The Deuce, but seeing these images of Maggie Gyllenhaal from the set have me on the edge of my seat. Oh 2016, you can’t get here soon enough.
