Anyone Else What to See a Honey X Film?
Gone are the days on 1970s sexploitation films, and with that, the visually stunning posters from them. For some people, those posters were just a great as the films were. Jamie Hewlett, who is best known for his comic Tank Girl (and being the designer behind the virtual band Gorillaz), has new exhibition that includes fictional sexploitation film posters that really do ring true the original 1970s posters.
Hewlett’s exhibition, entitled “The Suggestionists”, is described as:
Presenting three brand new bodies of work, renowned artist and designer Jamie Hewlett's first ever art exhibition will showcase a previously unseen side, albeit one that is shot through with the same distinct sense of wit and mischief with which he has made his name. Linking Grindhouse-type film posters, breathtakingly detailed line drawings and Jodorowsky-inspired Tarotica, "The Suggestionists" is a gloriously psychogeographic journey into Hewlett's psyche.
Hewlett created a fake star of his sexploitation films, Honey, and really brought her to life thanks to French actress Emma de Caunes. Honestly, Emma de Caunes is perfect choice to play a 1970s sexploitation film star. It kind of makes me wish someone would make one of the Honey movies.
Even though this exhibit in London, I kind of hope it travels the world. Personally, I would love to see these posters in real life.
