The Moon Always Shines Bright
The act of mooning can actually be traced back to the 1st century AD when Roman troops would flash their buns on the battlefield. The tradition has continued from the battlefield to live stage shows to ways to insult the Queen. Even though there is some debate on where the term "moon" comes from (some say it was from students in the 1960s to a random book in the 1700s to James Joyce), one thing that is for sure is that mooning is still pretty great.
These days one would hardly be offended by being mooned. Though I guess it would come down to the person who is displaying the moon, but still, it's not the worst insult that can be thrown your way. In fact, I think most of us would actually prefer getting mooned than being called a name. Too bad we can't bring back that insult. Oh well, we still have the movies and as long as there are movies, there will be mooning. Most of the time it's done is a comic way, but still, it has its moments of sexiness. Really, it's both funny and sexy all at the same time. I mean, it's unexpected, but it's also a sexy rear end. The best of both worlds.
And probably the best part of about mooning is sometimes it's all we get from a certain celebrity. And if all we get is someone's awesome ass, then that's perfectly okay with me. So raise a glass of your favorite beverage and give a toast to the rump; we salute you mooning!
