From what I know about acting, really good actors put some research into their roles. Whether that is reading books, doing a ton of research online, or even talking to people, those actors who really want to be believable tend to go the extra mile. So, when you’re Riley Keough playing a high-end escort, then you need to talk to high-end escorts.  

The new drama by Steven Soderberg, The Girlfriend Experience, is set to debut later this year on Starz. In researching her role, Riley Keough spoke with a few professionals.  

“I got to speak with one on Skype, which was really interesting,”   

“I was sort of obsessed with trying to find a connection to it, because I can’t really relate to random sex with strangers,” said Keough. “I was curious about the emotional side of it, [because] for me sex is such an emotional thing. . . . And [the woman I spoke to] said that she had feelings for clients all of the time and it was reciprocated. She even fell in love with one client,”  

“they couldn’t be together—he was in some high, respectable position with his job, and she was an escort.”  

Audiences at the Sundance Film Festival were treated to the first four episodes of The Girlfriend Experience and the word is the show was very well received. Though, I probably could have told you that show starring Riley Keough that will most likely have her in little to no clothing would be a hit. Guess we’ll find out in the very near future.
