LELO’s Oden 2 Has Re-inspired My Faith in Cock Rings

EDITORIAL FEATURES

My partner is what we would call gifted. Or well endowed. Packing? Take your pick. And yes, it's normally great - I can feel you guys rolling your eyes as I write this. It can sometimes be slightly inconvenient though; namely, when we're trying to find a toy that fits him or fits us together. It. Just. Doesn't. Work.

You can see how this might be a tiny bit of a bummer for a toy-loving sex writer, no?

So when I set out to review the LELO Oden 2 - part of the Insignia line - I was optimistic, but not particularly expectant. I've had great success with other LELO toys in the past (#TeamGigi4ever), but cock rings and couples vibrators have never served us well as a couple - for obvious reasons. Anyways. After attempting to learn how to work what I consider to be a complex toy for couples, locking our two kittens out of our room (they like vibrating toys, too), and letting my partner giggle while he played with the settings, I can confirm: This works. Let me walk you through it.

Step One: How the F*ck Does This Work

Now, I may struggle to operate even TV remotes, but I had a hard time understanding how to work this little fella. The Oden 2 came in a beautiful package - the hallmark of LELO quality, of course. I took the components of the toy (a remote, the toy itself, two bases, and a little key thingy) out of the box and fit them together with relative ease. It wasn't how the remote works or where you stick the batteries that tripped me up, thank you - that was plenty obvious thanks to the included manual. It was how you situate the damn thing on a cock that baffled us.

We opted to use the open C ring (pictured above) instead of the closed O ring, due to size, and it just... doesn't seem like the pleasure point could extend straight up so it would make contact with my clit? I dunno, don't make fun of me. My partner had me put it on him while he was soft to figure it out first, and despite the fact that flaccid dicks have as much stability as wet noodles, we had enough of an "AHA!" moment to commence the sexy time.

Step Two: Turn on Both the Remote and the Toy

The really cool thing about this remote is that it vibrates, too. Once both toys are on (and, you know, the batteries are on in the remote), they sync immediately, which is also pretty nifty. There are loads of different vibration speeds and patterns, but we experimented with LELO's SenseMotion technology because it sounded badass. Essentially, holding the remote horizontally induces the vibrating cock ring's lowest speed, and holding it vertically speeds it up to its highest. You can shake it and move it around and have the vibrator follow suit. Don't go nuts with the thing though, folks. Remember, spontaneity is fun; inducing a seizure is not.

Step Three: Get Situated

Once all systems are go and the ring is fastened on the shaft (with the pleasure point extended up toward the man's belly button for partnered sex, though it can cradle his balls when he's solo, too), you want to make sure everything lines up properly. Since my partner is, eh hem, girthy, I was worried that the arm extension wouldn't reach up high enough to reach my clit, but it did, which was wonderful. Penetrative sex with clit vibration is No. 1 on my list of Happy Fun Time activities, so this has quickly reached the top of my best sex toys list.

Now, because we used the open ring, it didn't stay PERFECTLY in place when things got particularly aggressive or we switched positions, but it was an easy enough adjustment if you can keep a playful attitude. I imagine that the closed ring stays put better for those who opt for that base instead. The vibrating point was the perfect intensity, too - not a full blast like I might prefer for a solo vibrator, but just right for foreplay and coupled sex that includes some penetration.

Having a way to incorporate constant clit stimulation into sex is especially important for some women (like, er, me) when it comes to orgasming, but there aren't a lot of easy ways to facilitate that. Many of the couples toys that go inside the vagina feel uncomfortable for me and my partner and are particularly hard to keep in place, and manually holding a regular vibrator against my clit the entire time is way more work than I'd like it to be. This toy was a particularly refreshing way to amp up sex for us both (he loved feeling his whole dick vibrate) is a way that was actually sustainable.
