Luna Tristá Takes One Hell of a Good Picture

The term "Lolita" probably gets tossed around more than it should. Some people view it as a bad thing, while others look at it as term of true beauty. Cuban photographer Luna Tristá wanted to snap some pictures to explore maturity and the beauty of the teenage body.

Really, any words I can say about these photos will not really ring true. So I'll let the photographer talk about this project herself:

“This project is an ode to the youth. That central stage of transition, of discovery of one’s own identity. My work is based on portraits of women, nudes and close-ups. My photography is usually in black and white, but my latest project is getting closer to color. If I had to summarize it, I would say that it is a feminist, nostalgic, sincere work. One detail that may make my work interesting is that I do not have any type of bond with the people I photograph. This is a real challenge for me, because that moment of intimacy and special connection that is created between the person behind the camera and the photographer can happen or not.”

We all know that art is in the eye of the beholder, but surely all the beholders out there kind of dig Luna Tristá's series of photographs. I don't know if these photos are going to be in a book or anything, but I know I'm going to be keeping an eye out for more images by Luna Tristá.
